ASW forces spot and sink a sub off New Calendonia.
Heavy night raid of Kumming by Sallys, fortunetly the bulk of my British air that was stationed there is long since gone.
ITs time to withdraw the liberators as their night raids of Rangoon have become ineffective.
His subs attacked one of my big transport groups off the west coast...he put a torpedo into one of my transports but my destroyers dealt with the sub quickly sinking him out right.
Her continues to pound Canton Island with battleships and cruisers. A mystery. Is he returning with troops? Either way my 3 battleship task force is again enroute. I dont have much friendly air here, but I may try the dash and smash strategy.
My british Air has been pounding Hanoi for the last three days. He has limited fighter coveraged there and I have been piling on the manpower hits. Yesterday I had 50 Fires raging there...I got 3 more manpower hits today, can't wait to see what the fires are like.
Tarakan fell to him today.

West Coast
Both of my big troop/supply convoys are underway and head towards Pearl. Depending on what happens in the Canton Island region will decide if I offload them at Pearl or press them on to Australia.
Midway
Midway remains solid.
Pearl Harbor
No major happenings here. My Battleships are moving southeast in the general direction of Canton Island. USS Hornet is now headed south to Pearl where she will rearm, refuel and gather a few more escorts before heading south towards Canton Island.
Loading a fast transport group with the 25th Inf for Baker Island
Canton Island
I have flown in about 300 infantry and 500 second line troops to Baker. He attempted to land troops there yesterday but apparently the steel of my bayonets was too much for him. I will continue to fly more troops in since he obviously intends to retake Baker again. This little island has changed hands three times to date…surprising. I do have troops loading at Pearl in destroyers, but if his carriers are still in the neighborhood I will not send them in.
He has a battlewagon standing off shore blowing the hell out of everything on Canton Island. Not much I can do about it. Though why he is throwing shells at the place is a mystery, unless he intends to come back with troops in the next day or so. So far, I haven’t seen any other troops in the area, though his carriers are standing off the island about 300 miles west. Interesting to say the least. I have decided to move Hornet south to the area but she is at least a week away including refueling so what ever is going to happen will happen before she arrives.
Sure wish my B17s had more legs, I could make a mess of that Battleship group.
Alaska
Nothing new to report.
China
I have to sing the praises of the 24th FG (A). They now have 70 kills of enemy aircraft in the Lanchow region. Today they will be supporting the british mediums as they begin a series (3 days or so) of ground attacks against his forces south of the city. Hopefully that will continue to discourage his push into Lanchow.
My Hudsons continue to pound Hanoi…getting his fires up to 75. I am sending my Chinese long range bombers against Hong Kong today to stoke the fires a bit.
Burma
I have set the 7th into recon Rangoon today, while the 93rd (whose morale remains above 50 for a change) is joining the party in the skies of Hanoi.
He left the shipping in AKyab alone today, no doubt due to losses inflicted by the RAF. Im sure he will be back soon though.
Malaya
Is his.
DEI
He took Tarakan today, the first of his hopscotch moves to take DEI. Right now I have the Australian 22nd and 27th spread out in three places here. I am slowing moving them by air to Timor. Since he has allowed me to hold on to the island I hope to make it very difficult for him to take it, though if he wants it, I simply do not have the manpower to fight off a large invasion.
Australia
Force A remains bound for Perth. I have a big supply group just west of Northern Australia (Broome) with close to 160K in supplies. I intend to sprinkle at least half of those supplies throughout all the northern Australian ports as well as Timor. I know he has subs about, but I likely will break up the convoy into individual units and take my chances. The other 80K or so supplies will circle south of Australia and end up in Sydney.
PM
I switch my Heavies (B17s) to naval attack today as my scout planes have spotted a small naval task force off Lae. It appears to be heading outbound, but you never know. I also gave them a secondary strike of the harbor at Rabaul. There are at least 2 ships anchored there I wouldn’t mind hurting. SO his airfield gets a day off.
Gili’s airfield is coming along slowly. With infantry digging it out I cant expect quick progress. I would kill for more base troops but with so many spots to defend in the south/southwest theatres I can only spread them so far.
Noumea
My task force has arrived at Espirtu and is unloading base troops and patrol aircraft. Noumea is quickly becoming very secure and soon will replace Auckland as my forward staging area.
PI
Just bits and pieces left.
Solomon Islands
All transports are offloaded and heading home. I’d still like to get some single engine bombers here, but that will come in the next week or two. No sign of Xargun here other then his recon planes. Not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.
Carrier Group One.
Lexington and Enterprise
headed to Noumea to refuel and then Canton Island area
Carrier Group Two
Saratoga and Yorktown
headed to Noumea to refuel and then Canton Island area
Carrier Group Three
Hornet
Headed south to Pearl Harbor and then the Canton Island area
Force A
Hermes and Indomintable
Steaming to Perth
Force B
Formidible

8 days until Long Beach
52 days until Illustrious
113 days until Wasp
Operation Ardagh
A complete success.
He continues to remain off of Canton Island. I am now sending major naval units to the area, but they wont be there for at least a week (due to refueling and transit time). If he hits Canton again the boys will simply have to stand.

MY hudsons continue to stoke the flames in Hanoi getting 7 manpower hits today.
My raid over Hong Kong however was very ineffective.
In the first of what will no doubt be many naval kills of barges my Wirraways attacked several outside of Lae putting bombs into one of them.
Another day another raid of Hendari by Martins this time. While that was going on the 5th out of PM put bombs into an AP in the Rabaul harbor, sinking her.

My liberators (7th BG) made an appearance over the skies of Hanoi ..causing seven manpower hits.
His first serious air raid over PM ...in a while...(I cant remember the last time)...50 plus zeros brought in 50 Betties and tore up the airfield a bit. There were some ground losses of aircraft, nothing overly serious though.
All those zeros over PM meant there were none over Rabaul when my heavies came in and pounded the place. Causing what appears to be heavy loss of life among the little Xarglings
.
Once again limited ground combat (one spot)...he is certainly marshalling for something.

Hes definetly back on his night bombing rage in CEI. Since its pointless to put fighters up at night in this game...the only thing I can do is move aircraft out of his way till he gets bored with it.
MY British Hudsons caused a manpower hit in Hong Kong today. THe 7th BG (Liberators) hit Bangkok also getting a single manpower hit.
All the air action was in CEI.
On the ground it appears that Tarakan has actually finally fallen, Ill know more when I boot up the turn.
All in all a nice allied friendly, quiet day.

Another night of bombing in China as he continues to try to put out the airfields in Lanchow and in the south at Kunming.
My ASW forces attacked and damaged one of his submarines off Canton Island.
Another quiet day in the Pacific, honestly its kinda boring right now...and if I can get a couple more months of this kind of boredom, Ill do what I can to increase the fireworks. I currently have no idea where his carrier forces are and that is bothersome to me. He has been awfully quiet of late other then his disaster at Canton. I will continue to build up the Central and south Pacific. I have those two big convoys headed towards Pearl right now, but i would love to get them to somewhere useful like Northern Australia or Timor. Time and the amount of enemy submarines will tell.

He went after Sumantra in a big way today from the air hitting multiple air bases.
I hammered Bangkok from the air again today...causing 8 manpowre hits.
He may again be planning on a landing at Baker Island. He sent a Battleship and several heavy cruisers to pound the island today.

For the first time in quite a while no enemy air in action at night.
My Hudsons paid Hong Kong another visit doing 6 points of manpower damage today. Bangkok also felt the weight of heavy bombs as the 93rd and 7th hit the city causing 8 more manpower hits.
He continues to fight hard for Baker Island. His carriers are again in the area, they caught a group of destroyers bearing soldiers for the island and hammered them into the sea. I had turned the task group away from Baker believing that he had naval air in the area, but somehow he manage to catch my ships anyway …sigh.
He dropped paratroopers at Palembang. Not a happy thing as the invasion of Sumantra has begun at last.

My two big troop convoys have managed to avoid Xarg’s sub net. Knock on wood. I have taken to zig zagging all my convoys. He can find them by air…dispatch subs to their location and get in front of them. So every turn I go through the entire map and do a 90 degree turn in a random direction while keeping their home base whatever destination they are set for. It slows them down quite a bit, but my losses due to his sub attacks have dramatically be reduced because he can no longer lock into their course.
Midway
Midway remains solid.
Pearl Harbor
USS Hornet continues to steam in the general direction of Canton Island. My plan is to merger her with my other four carriers and see if we can scare up some of Xarg’s naval assets. He seems committed to fighting for Baker. So I am committed to contesting it.
Canton Island
My battleship task group is now in the region but with the reappearance of his carriers I am going to steam quickly away from Canton Island. He already killed 4 of my destroyers and prefer to keep my Battleline out of his torpedo bomber range.
Baker Island, hardly a place I thought the empire of evil and the world’s greatest democracy would come to blows…isn’t it always the way. Currently I have 500 infantry men, all flow in there…and about 1800 support troops. I have 1 operating PBY….
He killed a lot of troops and all of my supplies with his battleship demonstration the last couple of days. I had a small destroyer group attempting to get more soldiers on the ground at Baker, saw his heavies there and turned them away…naturally his naval air caught them.
He currently has a carrier task group north of Baker Island…and battleships within one day’s sailing range. If I was him I would be sailing soldiers to the island right now. Based on this belief I am sailing as many naval assets into the region as I can. My aforementioned battleship group is already here….but without air coverage it would be suicidal to send them to Baker….hopefully I can get them out as fast as I got them in. Hornet is now Northeast of Baker, 3 maybe 4 days away. Lexington, Saratoga, Yorktown, Enterprise are all southwest of the region heading east as fast as possible. They will stop south of Pago to refuel and then head straight north. I figure they are still a solid 4 days away. My plan is to merge all carrier groups east of Canton Island and then send them into battle at Baker. This will be designated operation “farragut”. If the Japanese battleline is no longer in the area. Then I will support supply and troop landing operations at Baker. Additionally, I may move my carriers task forces forward and raid Tarawa. Either way. I am once again going to attempt to commit my flattops to action against Xargun’s navy. It’s a matter of whether he wants to engage me.
Alaska
No news.
China
He has had a single unit enter Lanchow. I am attacking it. See if I can bloody his nose a bit before his main attack arrives. He has been sweeping the area with zeros and that has hammered my P40s there….I will withdraw them back to Sining to regroup a bit. I will also withdraw my British air now that his ground units have arrived here.
Hong Kong has fires burning at 100…burn baby burn…Bangkok is at 250.
Burma
My heavies will again be keeping the fires burning at Bangkok. So far no movements on the ground by him. My Chinese 93rd is about 100 miles north of Rangoon now. Should be entertaining.

He has begun to land paratroopers at Palembang. Bad news for me, I was marching some of the splinters of the 22nd Australian south and they are now cutoff by his paras. There are about 400 of them, no doubt they will be lost.
Slowly I am adding combat troops at Timor, most of them are refugees from Singapore. Hopefully I can increase the size of this speed bump for him.
I have brought the 19th BG (B17s) to Koepang and ordered them to bomb the airfields of Kendari. Hopefully I can do a little damage J.
Australia
Force A continues its move around the southern part of Australia.
PM
The first task group with base force troopers has arrived taking my abilty to support air operations up. Minimal interference from Xargun…which is good. No doubt he is busy worrying about Baker in the east.
14K troops of the 7th Australian division are now inbound. I have some fighter coverage for them and hopefully that will allow the bulk of them to arrive.
Noumea
I have 3 fighter groups unloading here.

The 19th BG (B17s) struck Kendari overnite with little to no damage. No doubt this attack will draw more of his bombers to attack Timor.
Xargun has begun landing troops in the Solomons…tonite it was Shortlands.
My British heavy bombers continue to pound Hong Kong causing another 8 manpower hits and setting more of that city ablaze.
He noticed the 93rd Chinese division on the road to Rangoon and struck it with 60 plus Sallys. J…
He also continues to pound away at Palembang from the air more then 100 heavy bombers struck it today. Im hopefully the city can hold for sometime against his paratroopers.
His fighters got the best of my P40s and Wirraways over PM downing at least 4 to no losses for him. He tried to strike at naval targets there, but there were no hits.
Another round of shore bombardment for the poor souls at Baker Island. He has them isolated…yet no landings there. I remain hopeful that he is spread to thin and I can bloody his nose here.
As a preview to how things will go in North China. I ordered 134 thousand Chinese troops to attack the 66 thousand Japanese ones who entered Lanchow today. I lost 3 thousand solders to just 12-hundred for him. Needless to say I will be going into defensive mode.

He continues to pound ground positions in Lanchow from the air.
My British airpower continues to set Hong Kong ablaze doing 7 more manpower hits today.
Bangkok was again the target of American airpower doign 12 manpower points of damage.
I don't know what he is doing for industry in either place, hopefully this is putting quite the damper on it.
Suddenly zeros are popping up over China a sure indication that my air campaign there is hurting him.
Once again his zeros got the best of me over PM downing 3 of my fighters to just 1 of his. His PM strike went after shipping...no hits.
Imperial soldiers took Shortlands without firing a shot.

West Coast
USS Long Island is now available. I am thinking about sending her out to Pearl, loading her with dive bombers and hunting submarines in the Pearl area. I need to wait until I can gather a few more escorts before I will do that.
Midway
Midway remains solid.
Pearl Harbor
The first of my two big transport groups is off the coast without a loss.
Canton Island
I continue to deliver supplies to Baker by air. There is not nearly enough of anything there now to make for any kind of defense. My Battleships are in the area....but awaiting naval air power. Hornet is about 2 days from them. Carrier groups one and two are about 2 days south of Canton. I have 3 tranport convoys converging on Canton with troops and supplies.
Alaska
No news.
China
He has begun to bombard Lanchow....pretty weak so far, but hardly any of his troops have arrived in the city. Its probably also time to move my british air completely out of here. Lots of zeros about...and due to the lack of quality fighters (US P40s) there isnt a lot more air can do here.
Hong Kong is burning brightly with fires at 126...Bangkok is even worse with fires raging at 450.
He has put some fighter CAP up but not enough to prevent my bombers from getting through.
Burma
My heavies will continue to stoke the fires at Bangkok, the 93rd's morale has dropped beneath 50 but I will send em up for one more mission before resting them.
The 93rd Chinese is now ont he outskirts of Rangoon. No sign of movement by him though he did bomb them a couple of days ago.
Malaya
Is his.
DEI
Palembang continues to be Dutch, but not for much longer.
Australia
Force A continues its move around the southern part of Australia.
The 19th is going to take a poke at Ambino's oil tonite. Its the extreme edge of their range but maybe I can bust him up a bit there.
PM
The supplies are just about off the task group that is here. Other then the occasional flight of bettys Xargun hasnt done much to stop me from building up PM. I also think my pounding of Rabaul has hurt his efforts.
The 7th is on transports about 2 days out now. No doubt he will great them with his bettys...
Gili is just about done with its airfield. Not sure what I will put there...perhaps more wirraways.
Noumea
Other then the lack of air base support ( a running theme in this theatre) I now feel pretty good about Noumea.
PI
Just bits and pieces left.
Solomon Islands
Still awaiting his first strikes. SInce we know his carriers were busy on the flip side of the map I doubt I will see them anytime soon.
Carrier Group One.
Lexington and Enterprise
Refueling South of Suva bound for Operation Farragut
Carrier Group Two
Saratoga and Yorktown
Refueling South of Suva bound for Operation Farragut
Carrier Group Three
Hornet
East of Christmas Island bound for Operation Farragut
Force A
Hermes and Indomintable
South of Australia
Force B
Formidible
Is now located in Karachi
Long Beach
Is now located in San Francisco
64 days until Illustrious
110 days until Wasp
Operation Farragut
Carrier groups one and two are refueling...carrier group three continues to make its way south towards Canton Island

RE: 4-1-42
4/1/42
Xargunite troops now landing by ship at Palembang to add to his airborne forces there.
Heavy daytime bombing raids at Lanchow by his single engine bombers. Which he followed up with twin engine Sallys.
He also pounded Palembang from the air today.
My bombers got two more manpower hits in Hong Kong and one in Bangkok…burn baby burn.
My commando forces stormed the beaches of Apamama today….there were no xargunites to be found.
<edit> Apparently he has carriers northeast of Canton Island. I say apparently because a big red blob of ships appears on the map now (Im doing my orders). Additionally, he savaged one of my transport groups inbound to Canton (25th RCT). Now I don't really mind (ok it sucks) but it would of been nice to view this in the report...not the first time I have heard this happening.
That being said. I hope he keeps chasing the task group. Right now I have Hornet screaming south at full speed and she could make contact with Xargun's task group by tomorrow. Carrier groups one and two (the other 4 gals) are screaming North towards Canton Island at full speed and they could make contact with Xargun in two days.
Hammer and Anvil.
My dream would be for Hornet (who he obviously isnt aware of) to make the intial strike...yes I will lose Hornet, but if her birds can get in and shoot up Xargun's carriers and "slow them down". Enterprise, Yorktown, Saratoga, and Lexington can catch them from behind and put the finishing touches.
It has been six months of gaming since I have been this thrilled about the coming turns...if my battle plan actually works out...The entire game could shift in my favor. I can finally stop getting my ass kicked everywhere.
That being said, I just refueled Hornet AND the other 4 carriers...I have double checked all my settings. Plenty of fuel decent leadership and high morale. My planes better damn well fly.

Xargun continues to land a lot of troops at Palembang. He also spent the day pounding it from the air. I really dont have many troops here to defend it...some base forces and a fragment of the 22nd Australian.
He through a big airstrike against the 93rd Chinese outside of Rangoon. Caused some losses, but mostly it keeps him from hitting more imporant targets in theatre.
I did get to witness his naval strikes against my transport group (which I splintered) He heavily damaged the Hammann and the merchant she was escorting.
The PM phase brought a second wave of naval bombers against a different pair (DD Blue and merchant) same ugly results.
The skies over PM were mine. My P40s (21st FG) dropped no less then six zeros escorting bettys on their way to attacking my transport groups unloading the 7th Australian there. Later that after noon we exchanged fighters and I dropped one of his bettys. He did put a couple of torpedos into one of my APs.
Doesnt look like Hornet caught up with his task group today. Perhaps tomorrow.

West Coast
Nothing new to report
Midway
Midway remains solid.
Pearl Harbor
Both transport groups now in port offloading.
Canton Island
His 4 carriers continue to take shots at the fleeing transports. I have scattered them south, I hope he continues to pursue them. I have decided to turn Hornet straight west to close the gate as it were. She is located 120 miles south of Christmas Island. Enterprise, Saratoga, Lexington, Yorktown and still steaming at full speed towards Canton Island. They should be within shooting distance of the place by tomorrow. I hope his flattops are still in the neighborhood by then. This could all work out amazingly well if I can hurt his flattops, then maybe Hornet can put the finishing blows on them. Either way the next two days could get mighty loud.
Alaska
No news.
China
He continues to hammer away at Lanchow.
I have moved the bulk of my british air to the south where I will bomb his ground forces and hopefully slow him down there a bit.
Burma
I have withdrawn my heavies back to Ceylon for R and R.
Malaya
Is his.
DEI
He is on the move in Sumantra taking Palembang today.
I continue to slowly build up Timor with what Australian troops I can lay my hands on.
Australia
Force A continues its move around the southern part of Australia.
The 19th morale is already in the 30s. They really really hate living at Darwin. One more poke and I will withdraw them.
PM
The 7th Australian division has taken troop levels to just up over 8K of infantry. A nice addition. They are still offloading so their transports will no doubt attract more bettys.
Noumea
Is fine
PI
Just bits and pieces left.
Solomon Islands
Well with his carriers battering Canton Im not too worried about action here. If he can leave it alone for another week or so the British navy will be in the area.
Carrier Group One.
Lexington and Enterprise
Screaming north for Canton Island seeking his carriers
Carrier Group Two
Saratoga and Yorktown
Screaming north for Canton Island seeking his carriers
Carrier Group Three
Hornet
Moving west of Christmas Island hoping to close the door on Xargun's carriers.
Force A
Hermes and Indomintable
South of Australia
Force B
Formidible
Is now located in Karachi
Long Beach
Is now located in San Francisco
62 days until Illustrious
108 days until Wasp
Operation Farragut
Delayed while I seek Xargun's carriers.
Hopefully this time tomorrow I will have crossed decks with Xargun's carriers. It is realistically still to early to be dueling with his flattops, but he is so far from home even light damage will hurt his future operations, so it is worth the risk.

RE: 4-3-42
A big raid of zeros over Akyab today he tore into my CAP there shooting up all the demons and Buffalos I had there. The Hurricanes managed to even the score a bit, downing six zeros but he still controls the skies when he cares to in Burma.
No carrier duel today. His flattops are well northeast of Canton Island now. And well east of both of my task groups...hopefully I can close the gate on him tomorrow.

Screenies
Here is a map of the scene of the battle. His warships were spotted heading Northwest which means he has likely seen Hornet. To the South My 2 Carrier groups continue to scream north trying to keep his escape path blocked. I still do not believe he has seen the southern group. Perhaps tomorrow
.

Great screenshot! Keep us posted on the clash of CV's!
Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?

RE: Screenies
wow. Nothing. No carrier duel. Additionally my naval air did not spot his ships. The orders phase will give me a bit more of a clue as to where they are.
