Resource centers generate 1 supply per point and 6 resources per point.

You might be confusing resources and oil. Oil centres produce 6 oil points per day each, but resource centres produce 1 supply point and 1.25 (not 6) resource points per day.

Hi, Everything confuses me. I just know as Japan it is late 1942 and I have less supply then i started with. This whole "too much" thing makes me crazy.

I'm not even going to start on how crazy I think trying to take supply beyonds it's just being supply is. (where you try to argue what can be ate and what can be airplanes)

The game would work just fine if both players only had to place a certain number of transports between their supply source and where it was required. But in fact if a player cannot do this then he also can't use the present supply system and if he can then the present supply system is all you need.
I am against trying to make the game anymore complicated.

Hi, Anyone who thinks the Allies can maintain Manila or Singapore (or even Java) with supply from Borneo or Toboali is beyond my abilty to convince other wise.
What we need to do is play a game where the Japanese supply is tracked and 1 house rule will be no Japanese airgroup can take replacement aircraft at any base other then bases belonging to Japan at start and only when supply from Home Islands has been unloaded. No supply from any DEI base can be loaded by Japan for transfer prior to the entire DEI being occupied.
This would demonstrate several things that are at the core of my disputing the supply being the problem.
1. The pace of Japanese operations would not slow
2. The Allied player while being free to attempt movement of supply would be unable to maintain his forces inside SRA with supply produced there. (Borneo and Toboali supply would just sit unused or the effort would only produce a loss of allied transports attempting to move it)
Since this supply would have no impact on operations it is a waste of time to worry about it. No one can say what the Japanese are going to get. (I've posted many games where the DEI produces no supply or resources or oil after capture by Japan so it is clearly in these games not present in excessive amounts. )

Conversion of oil and resources at heavy industry produces 1.25 supply. Resource centers generate 1 supply per point and 6 resources per point.

My entire argument is it is not how much is produced and it is far better to produce too much then it would be to produce to little. What is important is the abilty to transport supply. If I can move supply from Osaka to Kendari then Kendari can be used for operations at my leisure. If I can't transport supply from Osaka to kendari then I also will be unable to transport supply from kendari to any usefull point. It is too easy to damage production if a base is within air range to worry about how much it might produce at 100 percent out put. It is totally pointless to worry about it if it can't be moved. It can't be used for replacements unless it is also in range of HQ And so on. The Allied players task in WITP is to halt movement of supply/resource/oil/fuel where ever it is created or converted or consumed. It should be the efforts of the Allied player that produce this halt not a pre game reduction. The DEI was a supply/resource rich area. It supported a large population before during and after the war without imports from outside. The DEI has since early in it's history been an exporter of goods not an importer.

Whether or not Japan blockades Manila or Singapore is irrelevant. What is is that there is enough supply just in Tarakan alone to support the entire USAFFE force indefinitly while conducting land ops. So, as was the case in this PBEM, Bill did not take blockading Manila or Singapore very seriously and all the supply at Tarakan made a huge difference because it allowed the defence of Manila to continue. Whether or not Bill blockaded sufficiently, the supply should have had to come from manufacturing centres, not some backwoods mining and oil site like Tarakan. That's my point. All else is secondary.

It does not make the game more complicated. How would it? Supply does not change. The location of its availability would. That's it. And it would make the logistics model make sense...enough supply would have to come from friendly manufacturing centres FIRST before there is enough supply at forward bases, which the current model negates because it is already there and just grows without the need for any serious amount of shipping. I am just blown away by all the resistance to altering the supply:resources hardcoded linkage.

Wanted to verify if approximately 6 solid months of the incessant plastering of Johnston Island's airfield and port facilities (so the base forces as well) with 4E bomber and 6" bombardments had any effect on the coastal defences....nope! Either they have very little effect or non base unit CD units are not targetted with facilities. The worst damage, USS Macdonough, made Pearl with 97 system damage and 71 floatation damage...had over 20 fire level. Don't forget, Allied DamCon is not ON in this game.

Bill continues mopping up efforts in the PI with landings at Cebu.

The big tanker that the RAF boys at Rangoon/Moulmein repeatedly missed gets nicked by a lurking Dutchy.

The recent massive mercantile traffic in the Macassar Strait (ship out over 100,000 oil and resource at Balikpapan alone) attracted a few Jap subs and they have been taking a toll of ships for no loss to themselves...a trade off between getting clobberred by air or by sub. Talang Akar could not solve the riddle today and paid the price.

Another rare Allied bombardment, today at Amboina. Kendari and now Amboina have been made relatively untenable by 4E raids initially, and 2E and 1E tacticals keep them that way, with the help of the odd bombardment. The isolated nature of the bases allowed them to be neutralized.

Bill has attacked Bandoeng, Java again and the P40s and Dutch Hawks made mincemeat out of them again.

Ground combat at Hankow After jerking about trying to get the errant units back to their starting positions prior to the land combat/movement FUBAR we realised it was just to much effort...the units would not respond at all....so, we said, SCREW 'EM! What's another 7,500 Chinese considering I've lost over 100,000 of the buggers to a combination of CHS static limitations or the brutal land model?[8|]They died a lonely and dishonourable death for being so effing retarded.

Be nice if I could actually witness an accurate turn once in awhile. Last four turns have all been effed up by the sync issue. I have to keep checking the ship list just to make sure a sub did not get bombed. Pleasant to see these sub attacks in the reorts Bill sends me but I miss them sometimes and any ship hit bu a Jap sub or scout aircraft often goes unnoticed and sinks when it could have been sent to a near port and saved.[:(]
