High Command will sink this sub no matter how many sorties it takes! We shall not be denied.

There was never a doubt at High Command, I will have you know![;)]

The Shoho! Brave Shoho! Shepherded by two destroyers low on fuel (and ASW cans) breaks off and makes for Saigon, and her shipyard, and her naval repairmen that have cushy barracks made by the French.

Oh, so close to foundering. So close.

Gee, all the subs show up during the day...the KB makes Cam Ranh Bay.

Image

All those Allied subs. Dutch, British, Yank and Red...so frustrated they didn't get to kiss anyone last night...

Can't even destroy a Wildcat. At least shelled some Marines in the 8th Rgt.

Just have to say, I am totally amazed the Allies didn't surge some surface ships forward to Cam Ranh Bay during the night.

Seeing how she isn't a Russian sub, I bet she would sink if hit by a broadsheet from a propaganda run.[;)]

I'm guessing, and its only a guess is that you put enough hurt on carrier planes to mean he's got to RTB, and he wanted to make sure he had enough escorts to do it, and that meant he didn't have enough to surge after you.

Oh, and he probably thought that you might (not that you'd do anything THAT sneeky!) have every Betty and Nell you have waiting for him to do exactly that. [:)]

Well done on the Shoho!

Turn is done and away, Allies continue to dump everything they have into Malaya.

We shall see what happens.

Curious question, from the idjit in the back of the room. I see your bombardment included BB's, CA's, and CL's. I was of the impression that, similar to SAG composition you did not try to mix these types up. Am I operating under (yet another) mistaken idea?
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

A shore bombardment run, with little chance of running into enemy shipping is perfectly fine to get as many guns onto the beach.

Has Shoho sys damage dropped any? 97 is danger close to even a tiny game random event destroying the ship.

I can remember once having the Chicago in port at Java, with 99 sys damage hit daily by bombs and not sinking...against the AI.

Anyhow, have to wait for the next turn to see what happens to her. I suspect the minor flooding will get pumped first...perhaps not. It is up to the repair manager to determine the fix priority.

Is it?
The manual 14.2.1.1 doesn't make it sound like there is much "determining by the repair manager" but a very simple and fixed order.

Or has this been changed later?

The Shoho had 40 fires from taking the 1000 pounder thru the flight deck.

I will take a snapshot of her damage over time with the next turn.

Yes, there is a formula and that is the manager I was referring to.

Read Alfred's excellent ship repair 101 for details. Time for me to re-read it as it is chock full of facts that I frequently forget that I knew once.[;)]
