[*]You've got too many turns loaded into Tracker. Java heap space can't load the application.
[*]The batch file (witptracker.bat) can be edited; increase memory to:
-Xms512m -Xmx768m
[*]Try loading without the map
[*]Otherwise, delete the DB and start again.

As the picture says, you are out of heap space. This means that the program has run out of reserved memory to allocation more storage locations to save the content of your database into memory. It says that it has loaded the database in 51 secs. One might assume that would be sufficient. However, if you observer the start up behaviour of this program, you will note a noticeable delay before you regain control of the application window. This is because it is also building a lot of data subsets in the background to present on the various screens all of which require more memory to store.

I suggest you alter the start up command in the batch file; changing the memory size parameters as follow:

CURRENT: java -Xms384m -Xmx512m -jar "Wiptracker.jar"

NEW: java -Xms384m -Xmx1024m -jar "Wiptracker.jar"

Note that this change will allow the program to allocate 1Gb of Ram (old was half a gig), be sure that you have enough spare ram to do this, otherwise you will need to shut some other programs down while running this one.

Thanks for your tech support, the new parameters as you say will not work on some machines, so that is why we(i) recommend 768m as the max.

Thanks,

Question...I only have 55 or so turns in the database. Is there a way for me to remove old turns and keep...say 25 turns in there, except for signal intel. My laptop is rather old and increasing the RAM is not terribly feasible. Rather a new laptop is coming, but not now.

Please advise.

Sorry not at this time. Did you try to increase the Memory settings in the batch file?

[edit]Also have a look at reducing the programs that start at boot.

I'm finding that with 2 day turns- despite having 2 day turns set in the tracker properties files that Tracker is only loading the intel from the second turn. I'm using beta version q3 and tracker version 1.8 April 2011

Is there anything else that I should look at?

Thanks,

Daniel

Hello
Tracker stopped working for me a while back, same 'heap space' issue as noted above. Just fixed that and Tracker loaded - but it will not read a new turn. I am using the Beta, just loaded Bata Q6, copied the new 'pwsdll.dll' from the Beta extract to the Tracker folder - no go. Not using the 'MP' version.

There has been about 3 months gap (game time) between the last turn load and the current turn - will that make a difference?

Hoping to get this going but am I backed into restarting the tracker DB from where I am? Is there anyway of merging data from the old (current) DB and a new one?

Thanks guys

Well if the last turn was 3 months ago I'm thinking that it was done under 1106i and the new turn was under 1108q6. This might be the first cause.

I'd try a new Tracker install with the new dll and try just to load a q6 turn. The other issue here is whether your 2005 C++ files have been updated through a windows update or whether you'll need to do a manual install.

Can you also post a screen shot of the dos error

No way to merge data - sorry

OK

Here is a screen shot

I will start up a new download, probably the different versions causing the problem.

Could be a number of things here:
1. -Xmx1024 might be too much for your machine.
2. There is an unknown keyword in the properties file.
3. Diff ver. causing a problem.

Damian,

After a brief hiatus I’ve started a new game using public beta 1108q6. I’m using WitPTracker AE 1.8, and yes, I’ve copied the current dll.[;)]

Win7
8 gig ram
C++ 2005 v8.061001
Java v6.0.270

Thanks

Your Xms Xmx memory settings are too low.
Try:
java -Xms384m -Xmx512m -jar "WitPTracker.jar"
-Xms512m -Xmx768m

Damian

Your a star!

Changed the Xmx to 768 and it works!

The unknown keyword has been there since I started up. The properties file looks like:

Dir=[C:\Wargames\Matrix Games\War In the Pacific AE]
GameType=[0]
Side=[1]
Password=[abc123]
SaveFile=[wpae013.pws]
SaveMode=[1]
Header=[]
TurnCycle=[1]

Note sure what the issue might be but it seems to work.

Thanks for your help

Good to hear -
Probably a white line space or EOL (End of Line) somewhere. As long as it isn't affecting the load then it should be ok. Still If you want to fix it you should extract the file from the zip again.

Cheers and have a good weekend. (friday here[;)])

Yeah, this was reported to me before and I can't seem to reproduce it. I tried a scenario with two-day turns and everything loaded fine for me.
Delete the trackerdb.* files.
Copy the pwsdll.dll file from the game folder to the WitPTracker folder.
Try running the WitPTracker.bat again.

Hi

I have a problem with a new game I'm loading into Tracker. The first turn loads fine, database is created, Tracker works, except when I scroll down the Task Force list.

Then I get a series of messages, which begin by:

Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.ArithmeticException: / by zero
at witptracker.TaskForce.GetETA(TaskForce.java:757)
at witptracker.TaskForcePanel$1.getValueAt(TaskForcePanel.java:152)

Any idea about what's happening?

Thanks in advance,
Francois
