Well, it's the second qualifying round of ....
The FA Cup
Braintree are at home to Royston with a 1500 kick off...
... and the BBC is streaming Deeping Rangers v Kidderminster Harriers live at 1230...
What more could you want on a Saturday afternoon?
Best wishes,
Steve
The romance of the FA Cup. Braintree are on the Wembley trail - just a few rounds to negotiate and......Wembley awaits [:)] I still love the FA Cup - even though it does not have the uncertainty and capacity for shocks like it used to have (the big teams dominate this competition too) [&:] its still the FA Cup, 1872 and all that. [&o]
To be fair Braintree have got more chance of making the final than Tottenham....[:(]

aaargh, stupid game!
Bloody ridiculous game [:@] Two penalties not given, hit the bar, 75% possession, 26 shots - 8 on target..... what a pathetic game.

RE: All things Football (soccer) related
American football is better than soccer. Why kick the ball around all the time when you can just pass it 60 yards? Why have such a small goal to kick the ball into when you can have 30 yards of open space to run the ball or throw the ball into? [:D] Why have so much kicking in the first place for 1 point when you can have just 1 kick for 3 points?[:D] Plus you get a free kick every goal for 1 extra point and you get 6 points per goal. [:D]
RE: All things Football (soccer) related
Rugby is better than American Football because there's not armour to stop the shocks and the punches under the melee.

Braintree Town 2-2 Royston Town
I note that Royston play in the Southern League. The only non-league winners of the FA Cup? Tottenham Hotspur - who played at the time in the Southern League. Omen? Sorry shunwick old fruit but I think it could be Royston's year [:D]

Braintree were dreadful in the first half. Royston came with a predictable plan - robust tackles, chase down and preferably kick anything that moves, and, generally, get in the face of the opposition. In short, a perfectly acceptable plan. Braintree were on the back foot for most of the first half and Royston looked the most likely to score - which they duly did.ORIGINAL: warspite1

The half time team talk in the Braintree dressing room could be heard in Tesco's.
Better in the second half by which time the Braintree team had got used to the idea that they had a game on their hands. Gradually got the upper hand as they made their extra quality tell and started controlling the game as the Royston energy began waning. Two good goals put Braintree in front - they were worth the lead - and then ... the curse of Braintree Town FC in recent years... job done, what's for tea? Caught napping by a Royston side prepared to battle for 90 minutes and thoroughly deserved a draw and could easily have nicked a winner late on. Once you switch off it's bloody hard to switch on again.
Overall, a draw was fair result. Lost track of how many yellow cards were shown though the Royston red came ten minutes from the end. Braintree had the better quality, Royston had the scent of blood.
If Braintree underestimate Royston in the replay then they don't deserve to win the FA Cup...
Best wishes,
Steve

Tottenham's brave, but ultimately futile, battle continues with a win away away (and against West Ham so.. not sure if that counts anyway) rather than the draws away.ORIGINAL: warspite1

No, just blame Spurs for being Spursey.... That match showed why buying Aurier was a good idea and why he was truly worth the money. That match also showed why we shouldn't have gone anywhere near the massive liability....

I am pleased for Braintree, and wish life was as good for Spurs. Three away wins on the bounce totally undone by rubbish home results against Burnley and Swansea. Oh hum.....[:(]
