So, what happens when we get to 1000 pages? Does the forum go boom? I know this is the fourth time The Thread has been created by the "!" marks, but I don't recall what happens when we hit 1000.

Someone starts a new one. We were told way back when that over 1000 pages makes the forum software do unfortunate things.

Hehe. The 3 "!" are just the long standing tradition, along with spelling it in all caps. [:D]

This is actually the near end of the 7th incarnation of THE THREAD!!! 3 in the old WitP forums and 4 here. Brother Onime is right. Much content from the first incarnation was lost during a forum software backup because that one forum thread contained too much data. That unfortunate incident is still referred to as "The Great Abridgement". If I remember correctly, 400 - 500 pages were lost. Since then, we have voluntarily ended the old and started a new incarnation of THE THREAD!!! once we reach 1000 pages, to stay away from another such incident. [8D]

Think about it for a minute. 7 x 1000 pages x 30 posts per page. Mix in the posts lost in The Great Abridgement, and we're in the neighborhood of a quarter of a MILLION posts on THE THREAD!!! over the years.
