Rotating Art Update Set 007 - USN Revisited

Post by Reg »

Please find the download link below for the Rotating Allied Aircraft Side Art, Incremental Set007.

Note this is just a reformat of Cathartes excellent artwork.

This set includes the 1941 to 1943 rotating Sideart and TopArt for most of the USN types: (Set001 needs to be installed as well...)

There still a couple of omissions such as the patrol planes but you probably won't see them in game anyway. They will be included for the encyclopedia eventually but I thought you might like what I have as soon as possible. Cathartes has hinted that the late war USN Gloss Blue scheme is coming (for the Downfall scenario etc...) so watch this space.

The index to the rest of the Aircraft Rotating Art is here....

=====================================================
Installation instructions:

Just unzip into your WITP-AE folder with the 'Use folders' option set.

(You should get a message that the "Art" and other folders already exist. This is good as it means the files are being unzipped into the correct locations).
======================================================

Enjoy.

Edit - 30Jun10: As a special request Cathartes has generously provided some FM-1 sideart. The attachment has been updated with the new images.

THIS DOWNLOAD IS NOW OBSOLETE!!!

Please use the index to the rest of the Aircraft Rotating Art here.... to locate the latest version of this Rotating Artwork Set.

Certainly does!! [:)]

(Hence the post title of "Rotating Art Update")

You don't have to do anything else to make it work apart from unzipping into your game folder (and be running patch 3 or later I believe).

Note that you need Set001 installed to get the USN side art as well as the top art from this set (Set007). You will need to follow the link above to where you can download all seven sets. When it is all complete we will host it properly in one place.

The link to the index to the rest of the Aircraft Rotating Art is also here....

Enjoy.

Cheers,
Reg.

A call of encouragement to all who are sitting on the fence:
yes, it's really that simple.

Download as Reg advises, unzip into your WitP/AE main folder, and your done.
No stock files are overwritten.
Tried and worked [:)]

If you're not happy with the result - just delete the folders
- AlliedPlanes
- AlliedPlanes42
- AlliedPlanes43
- AlliedPlanes44
- AlliedPlanes45
and you're back to where you came from (but why would you?).
Couldn't be simpler.
Thanks Greg [:)]

As a special request, Cathartes has generously provided some unique rotating sideart to use in the FM-1 slot.
Cathartes:

Pacific schemes are hard to come by since nearly all FM-1s went to the Atlantic as I understand it. This one is actually a F4F.

If you have already downloaded the Rotating Art Set007, just download the attachment below and install over the top of set007. Installation is just unzipping into the game folder.

If you haven't already done so, Set007 has been updated and includes the new images in the post above.

Enjoy and please thank Cathartes for his valuable work.

I have started to convert the LCU unit patches so they will work with DaBigBabes Mod.
Was wondering if someone could make me a generic unit patch for the following types of units, it will help me keep them strait in the game.

Aviation Engineer Bn
Boat&Shore Engineer
Port Construction Bn
AmphTrac Engineer
Marine Pion Bn

Thanks for the help

Don’t know much from patches, but the USMC Pion Bns were taken directly from their corresponding MarDivs: 1st Pion Bn belonged to 1st MarDiv, etc. Using the MarDiv patch should be fine.

USMC AmphTrac Bns 1 through 5 also came from their corresponding MarDivs. Don’t know when they put the gator on the Div patch, but that’s kinda what they use now for the Assault Phib Bns.

Boat&Shore Engrs are the component parts of 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Engineer Special Brigades. Those patches would work (if you can find them).
2nd ESB had 532, 542, 592 Boat&Shore Regts (1/532, 2/532, 3/532 … Bns)
3rd ESB had 533, 543, 593 Boat&Shore Regts
4th ESB had 534, 544, 594 Boat&Shore Regts

For the rest, I’m clueless.

Unit patches for DaBigBabes

First, I would like to thank everyone for all the hard work in doing this artwork!

Here are the allied unit patches for DaBigBabes. I used the existing art and renamed the LCU files to match DaBigBabes. (It will point to the wrong units if playing anything but the DaBigBabes mod)

1- Make a copy of your AlliedPatch folder
2 - Open the AlliedPatch folder, sort by Name and delete only the LCU_XXXX files
3 - Copy the DaBigBabes LCU_XXXX files into the AlliedPatch folder

I added the divisional patches to the appropriate Rgts so I could keep track of the units easer. (IE the 24th Div, 19th, 21st and 34th Rgts all have the same patch)

Enjoy, Daryl
