Port Moresby has a level 9 airfield and two elite P38G squadrons stationed there.

This should have gone a little better and some BB's or CA's should have been sunk.

A somewhat older page that I forgot to post. Not taking Kwajalein and Roi costed me a lot.
I will have to regroup and (re)prep my units, while the Japanese are building up Ewinetok, Ponape, Truk and more atolls in the area. Also Kwajalein and Roi seem to be in great shape again.

It is no longer quiet. The convoy that I moved to Woodward Island was intercepted an pretty much entirely destroyed. Also my carrier Task Force of CV Essex, CV Saratoga, CV Hornet and CV Enterprise was hit. The Japanese launched from far away and the carrier based torpedo bombers didn't launch torpedoes. As a result none of my carriers are in a very bad shape and all of them will make it to port. Unfortunately, once more the range was too far to strike back. Nevertheless, the battle did not go entirely to Japan, as almost 300 planes were shot down by the F6F Hellcats and a few P38's and Kittyhawk IIIs. The loss of these pilots will take the edge out of KB.

I did not expect the Japanese carriers to move in for the kill. I guess I forgot how agresively NPJ72 commands his units. My damaged carriers escaped for now and I'm moving in more and more dive and torpedo bombers from nearby reserves and from the Santa Cruz Islands.

Thanks. The war is very interesting at the moment as KB is more or less intact and the Allies have lost a lot of carriers (two more today as a result of an oopsie daisy). As a result the Allies cannot dominate the Japanese troops yet.
