San Fran - Two Replenishment air groups (had Corsairs and Hellcats) have been moved to San Diego and changed over to be Marine training groups of 36 planes each (Buffalo and Devastators). The Americans now have three Army, three Navy, and now two Marine training groups. Should help out with pilot skills overall.

Are these all set up as actual training groups? In 5.4 the Naval ones were not, just had training in the name field.

OK. Home and ready to do more work. Got to make sure that the French are in full fighting form first.

Does anyone know what the build rate for the b25j11 should be. This is a screenie from my early version of RA70. The H version upgrades to the j11.

Will look at that BigRed.

There are now SEVEN dedicated Training Units in the continental USA. These are permanent, static units allowing for the US to gain a degree of Pilot Training similar to the Japanese.

Got a bunch of work done last night but couldn't log on to Matrix for some reason. FINISHED the USELESS French Fleet. Sorry: No Offense. It was massive headache where I had to drink heavily when I realized there were issues with every class of French ship. Need some ART WORK. Who has French ArtWork? More importantly who would be willing to attach the appropriate Art Work to the class of ships?

Raised the garrison levels in China (Occupied and Unoccupied), a little in Burma, and some in India. Have exact notes and shall Post the specifics.

The Conversions are all identified and I'll tackle them soon. Sort of dread that. It took forever last time to do these.

Starting positions for the Allies are done and things look good.

Shifting to the Japanese Side tomorrow. Not happy with some of the work here so need to think on it a bit and make some decisions.

bigred, that is the way it is in RA 5.5 also( and stock I think ) There are two other B-25 models with factories that upgrade to the B-25J11 to give it 35 production. B-25C has 20 production that upgrades to B-25D1. The B-25D1 upgrades to the B-25J11 and carries that 20 production along. The B-25H has 15 production and upgrades to the B-25J11 and adds its production. I have just noticed that the B-25H is set to product from 44-02 until 45-07, but the B-25J11 is available 44-09. I have no idea what happens to the production in this case. In scenario 1 the B-25H stops production and upgrades on 44-07. I think the production extension of RA will actually cause less advanced aircraft to be available, so that would be a net loss for the Allies.

Weight isn't really the consideration with this modification. Torpedo tubes don't require below deck support other than the structure required for recoil and the weight of the mount itself.

With the 100mm mount, you would need a magazine below the mount and this would be difficult to provide with the engine rooms there.

I suppose you could use the existing magazines under the forward and after mounts. There are two problems with this. One, you would have to get the shells from the end of the vessel to the mount. The French tried this with some of their secondary mounts and it killed the rate-of-fire once the shells in the mount were exhausted. The other is the added volume at the ends of the vessel where volume is limited.

All and all, I don't think that it is a reasonable idea.

Hi

this is not a problem
(in german - bereitschaftsmunition ) or the yard build a small Ammovault in near of the gun or the ammo is open on Deck,ok this is a dangerous method...

i would build the gun of a stage for a better field of fire and we avoided the problem with the engine room.

100 mm/65 is small for a Naval Gun/DP... low recoil and small shells and the shell is easy to transport better than a 12,7 cm gun or big 15 cm gun with a 50 kg shell.

I think to build/refit a 100/65mm turret for the Torpedolauncher is very realistic.

ideas for Japan :

The French comming ok.... than we must take a handfull german submarines for Japan. ( Monsun U Boote )
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monsun_Gruppe

The 100/65mm shell have a weight of 13 kg the 12,7 cm DP have shellweight of 20 and 24 kg i think all ships with the new 100/65 gun can carry more Ammo for Battle i think 15 % more shells.

Furutaka and Aoba class path to a heavy AA Cruiser and the 20 cm guns go into Coastal Defence units.

Make more Coastal Defence mobile in Japan,China,Vietnam...not R and static...this is anyway no Match for the Allied Hordes of Battelships.

thanks for watching ;)

I LIKE the idea with upgrading the old CAs to something more violent in an AA manner. Will think on that some...

Maybe pull the rear turret (leave the front 2x2) and add 100mm AA to the stern? Hmmm... Gonna ponder that some.

It isn't a big deal to allow a build rate here. Also think on the fact that you can always change the Air Group to a different type of bomber (B-26, A-20, etc...).

Took a look at this and decided to make production 15 planes a month just like its earlier model. Does that work?

I was looking at the deck armor of the Indefatigable CV class ..The wooden deck armor of the Essex class CVs is 25. I humbly suggest we reduce the Sho class CV deck armor from 65 to 25 going forward starting w/ RA6.0

Japanese OOB

Post by John 3rd »

I've been working on wrapping my mind around the Japanese OOB with all the changes that FatR has placed into it. Here is what I'm thinking:

STARTING FORCES (Capital Ships):
KB-1/KB-2 (Two WARP Speed TF on Dec 7th)
CV: Akagi, Kaga, Hiryu, Soryu, Shokaku, Zuikaku
BC: Kirishima, Hiei, Kongo, Haruna

There are four new construction Akatsuki-Class AA DDs present.

Home Islands:
BB: Nagato and Mutsu
CVEs: Taiyo and Hosho

Babeldoap:
CVLs: Ryujo, Shoho, Zuiho

Shoho is completed in time for Dec 7th.

DEI:
BBs: Fuso, Yamashiro, Ise, Hyuga

The only additional starting forces for Japan, compared to IRL, in this version of RA is Shoho and 4 DDs. That is it.

REINFORCEMENTS:
1942
CV: Junyo (Feb), Hiyo (June), Ryukaku (Sho-Kai Class November)
CVL: Nisshin (Feb) and Ryuho (July)
CA: 2 Tone-Kai

1943
CV: Taikaku (Sho-Kai Oct)
CVL: Hayasui (Chitose-Class June)
CB: 2 Kawachi-Class Command Cruisers

1944
CV: Renkaku (Sho-Kai Feb), Amagi (Sho-Kai Aug), Katsuragi (Sho-Kai Dec)
CVL: Kazahaya (Chitose-Class Mar), Aso (Chitose-Class Nov)

1945
CV: Kasigi (Sho-Kai April)

Sho-Kai Class carries 75 Aircraft and is an improvement off of the Shokaku.

Chitose Class carries 33 planes and is the normal from the war. Three of the Oyodo hulls serve as the additional CVLs.

No Taiho or Shinano as normal.

Add five of the new Oyodo-Class CLs and you have the Japanese OOB.

FatR has described the DD Build-Out so I don't need to touch on that.

Garrison Changes

Post by John 3rd »

My goal is to SLOW DOWN the creation of massive stacks moving across the board as well as tie down additional troops allowing for a slower start with real consequences for offensives reaching into China and/or India. Add JWE's changes to movement on the map and we may actually serve to achieve this goal.

This is what I've done:

Nationalist--Communist China:
Changsha 350 +50
Siangtan 100 +50
Hengyang 150 +50
Shaoyang 50 +30
Kweiyang 100 +40
Changteh 150 +110
Sian 300 +100
Yenan 350 +70

TOTAL +650 Required

Occupied China
Peiping 450 +70
Tientsin 350 +30
Tsingtao 250 +50
Suchow 150 +30
Soochow 150 +30
Wusih 100 +40
Nanking 350 +70
Hangchow 200 +40
Hankow 250 +30
Wuchang 250 +50
Amoy 100 +40
Canton 400 +40

TOTAL: +640 Required

Burma
Prome 10 +10
Toungoo 10 +10
Meiktila 10 +10
Shwebo 20 +20

TOTAL: +50 Required

India
Jamshedpur 20 +20
Asanaol 20 +20
Howrah 20 +20
Madras 200 +120
Columbo 100 +40
Trincomalee 50 +30
Bombay 250 +70
Delhi 200 +75

TOTAL: +395 Required

I have checked and there are units available to fill everything. Most places won't require a unit to be moved to it. A few will and so the player will have to be aware of this starting Turn ONE.

CL Jean de ???, and 4 L'Adroit DDs.

Full name is probably Jean de Vienne, like the Algérie, it was scuttled in Toulon. In RA, they might have escaped, having been sent to Indochina et New Caledonia.

For the DD, the ship is named l'Adroit, but class name is Adroit. Note that Adroit is a pretty old class, and that only three were scuttled in Toulon. You might want to look at more modern classes, like Melpomène, which were fast and large torpilleurs (TB), and Hardi which were the most modern contre torpilleurs (DD) the French had at the time.

Francois

Le Hardi class is a good choice but Melpomène has many defaults (lack of AA, very short range, weak structure). Units of Le Fier 1010t torpilleurs would be better IMO. Some were almost achieved IRL in mid 40.

Skyland is going to attach the French Art to the ships so he shall have the Mod Files for a few days while I am away.

HOLY CATS! We just missed a tornado yesterday (OR did it miss us??!!). Had a microburst with clouds overhead doing all sorts of rotation. We were under a tornado watch and then I saw it shift to a warning. Drove over to the store and grabbed my staff, got them, the family, and the four cats in the basement and we waited to see what would happen. In a little under an hour we got 2 INCHES of rain! My poor basement started to flood from water going over the level of the windows in the window wells. SCARY! Lots of trees down but nothing worse then that. We got some small hail but it didn't cause any real damage. Haven't seen it rain like that in 20-25 years.

FUN!
