Especially now, due to China, the Japanese IJA IDs are really getting their XP ramped up!

Sad about the 5th ID, who are wiped out on the 21st, but we have more. Really hoped that the Para Operation would have worked. Damned armor!

August 21, 1942
West Coast off British Columbia

(the script plays off the same one eight weeks ago)

Japanese I-Boats continue to make their presence felt along the entire American-Canadian West Coast. This day finds THREE American Destroyed ASW TFS working the seas searching for game.

They FIND game but it is not what they expected. The presence of early morning Japanese float and conventional search planes lends an immediate air of impending doom for the seven American DDs.

Too late, a PBY radios the message of Japanese Carriers spotted due west. The message is cut off early and in mid-transmission. Not good.

Raids come in all day finding the three small TFs.

Morning: Raid ONE 67 Zero, 24 Val, 9 Kate, Raid TWO 10 Kate, Raid THREE 14 Zero 10 Kate

Afternoon: Raid ONE 59 Zero, 24 Val and Raid TWO 8 Zero and 24 Val

Distress calls fill the air! Confirmed Sunk are four DDs with two more seriously hit. These are good ships and good names: Duncan, Lardner, Cassin, O-Brien, Landsdowne, Shaw and Perkins.

Hundreds of men enter the cold, icy waters. The sea is merciless!

probably too late to invade AUS. Looks like a grab and hold. If the jap armor divisions were in AUS maybe a different story. With the American Armor now two allied armored divisions worth of tanks operating in AUS.

Have you lost any of those valuable APs that convert to APAs in early '43? I tend to hide those very quickly in the war.

John has pushed back your potential start lines on the road to Tokyo with most of his expansions in Alaska and northern Australia.

Very entertaining AAR, gentlemen. Keep up the good work!

By the way, anything happening in SoPac or CenPac?

Cheers,
CB

Looks like a bit of whipping in the APA area! [:D]

Glad to have some commentary on the AAR.

Running turn now and will comment more in a bit.

I am going to conduct an experiment. With 5th ID destroyed, I have already bought it back, will get it in less then a month, and then shall rebuild it in Tokyo. Once rebuilt, it will deploy to China to gain experience. We'll see how that progresses over time...

Who says Australia is the PRIMARY target?

With the total and complete lack of HR, China is where all the VP is at. Supply problems my Noble Opponent? GOOD! With the loss of your oil producing town and now the industrial center, the Chinese troops should be in a world of hurt.

This doesn't even factor eastern Burma. How are supplies there?

This will be fun to watch....

Imperial Japan
The Kaigun Sails

For nearly two months (mid-June, July, and August), the capital ships of the Kaigun have been undergoing upgrades, resting, relaxing (checking out the Geisha Houses), and--above all else for the air units--TRAINING. The less effective various forms of 5" AA guns have been upgraded to the new 3.9" AA gun. More 20MM (useless) light AA have been added, several ships have had radar installed, and EVERYTHING is repaired, cleaned and overhauled.

Over the last 2-3 weeks, the Fleet has sailed and has gotten itself positioned for the next phases of operations. A portion has already made its presence known off the coast of western Canada and soon much more shall be revealed...

It time for ACTION! In highest spirits, the Imperial Fleet of Japan sails towards a rendezvous with destiny.

Hmm. Is there a light AA mod for the Japanese somewhere, either in this scenario or in general?
