FIRST be aware this is still a work in progress in the Map SHIPS and PWHEX area
but v5.623 and v6.623 all scenarios and associated art files are Posted at Send Space
a multi part download about 60 meg

also note that v6.623 EOS zip contains the latest PWHEX file

changes
it is intended that these files be used with 6.623 or 6.63 level pwhex files (plural because there are two - one for each condition of the Panama Canal)
AND 6.63 level art files (map, ship and probably aircraft) - when these are available.

This is the next to last step in a dreary process of data washing - and massive data entry re small ships/craft - which will end with the issuing of 6.63 data files about Tuesday. These files are meant to be used to familiarize yourself with the interior river systems, with groups of landing craft and PT boats and other minor vessels,
and a number of other technical innovations. They also are meant to spot errors the utilities won't see.

A number of new units appear - and a few have not yet appeared. The present state of pwhex opens the Ganges/Bhramaputra river system, the Upper Yangtze River system, the Upper Yellow River system, the Chao Phraya river system and the Amur/Usurri/Sungari River system. The Irrawaddy and Mekong will be added.
So will some additional river craft - mainly on the Amur, Irrawaddy and Mekong.

There are a number of eratta corrections of many sorts, and slight enhancements to devices, aircraft and ship classes. For example there is a new Soviet 130mm destroyer gun - a very remarkable weapon much more comparable to a six inch than a five inch gun. The riverine transports of Thailand now operate on the rivers instead of the coast. Etc.

I will complete pwhex 6.63 first, then immediately convert 5.63 to that standard, then do the data files for x.63. I plan to issue a call for turns in the Tag Team game for one week after x.63 is issued - probably Tuesday.

A small team (Cobra - Mifune and I) will then attempt to integrate Level 7 - and Levels 5 and 6 will be frozen until after the human tests produce enough information to define issues.

RHS v5.624 and v6.624 micro all scenarios Posted at Send Space

changes
This is ONLY a location file. It only corrects eratta - which were pretty extensive in EOS - and scattered otherwise -

except it adds a number of locations in SE Asia - mainly related to the river systems.

This file will allow you to use the new river systems in Burma and Indochina when pwhex 6.4 releases - which is in a short while. It also allows you to get used to the other impacts of these locations - which make land unit movement more feasible.
There are a few changes to road/trail/rail lines - mainly one hex extensions - but a road in Cambodia is erased. The art for all these is about to be approved - and Cobra will post when it is.

This is also released so no one wastes time reporting what is already fixed.

Sid

I have not forgotten Level 5 - which is actually cleaner than 6 - no particular EOS problems here. We will do a Level 5 pwhex set with 6.63 - I didn't want to convert at 6.623 because I have to convert again anyway today. But Level 5 also gets the river systems.

Additional Map changes + ships + V5.623 & V6.623 PWHEX sets posted at Send Space

changes
river system art done for Panels 000-001-005

addition ship art

PWHEX changes
This is a violation of protocol - but I wish to keep the version numbers in sync.

If you downloaded 6.63 already - just write over it with this. There is a single hex side of difference - which matters for travel only in one direction - theoretically (it isn't clear it matters in practice).

Pwhex work done for now.

due to move of Darwin 1 hex west and new v5.623 and v6.623 PWHEX set has just come thru and is Posted at Send Space - the previous release today is now out of date and deleted

changes
This set moves Darwin and its associated RR to the correct hex.
Since Cobra revised the map - we need to be in sync.
Also codes some swamp hexes more properly - they seem to have dried up!
And the LCF at Soc Trang is now meaningful.

this has been a fast and furious fun morning 'NOT' hope you are keeping up
RHS v6.625 & v5.625 micro all scenarios posted at Send Space

changes
This is ONLY a location file for level 6 scenarios and it supercedes 6.624 - it just goes on top of the last comprehensive update. It moves Darwin to line up with new map art. It also addresses a problem of too many locations with exaggerated forts.
It also folds in some eratta.

This is getting close to 6.63 - but not quite there. Mostly eratta and adding some Allied engineer units.

wait there's more
RHS v5.625 & v6.625 micro 2nd issue (addition to issue 1) posted at send space

changes
This update has the same 6.625 location file as before - but adds classes and ships.
You can try out the new Aussie ALC-40 landing craft - and formations of British Army, Royal Marine, RIN, CW and RN landing craft. More river craft - adding traditional craft when fitted with motors - on Ganges and Irrawaddy - and some other minor craft.

This replaces all microupdates since the last comprehensive update.

RHS is still in development and testing v5 and v6 are only about a week away from being
locked done for long term play and work on v7 will commenece
as most changes involve the OOB you need to start a fresh game each update unless its PWHEX or art

finally after a broken Yahoo and power failures RHS v5.627 and v6.627 have been posted at Send Space

changes
Nothing glamerous here:

lots of eratta - vast numbers of Allied landing craft added - medium numbers of Allied ship slots added at the same time -

But it should play a good deal more efficiently.

Cobra says we won't have the new EOS airplane art soon - so we won't redo the EOS Allied Air OB until it is.

My focus is getting rid of all eratta - adding Viet Ming and Vichy units in Indochina - and getting small craft converted to the multiple ship system. Looks like the Allies will have AT LEAST 5 times the amphib assault lift - and a similar proportion of increased assault support craft - while we will have hundreds (possibly thousands) of free ship slots.

I have three days off - so wherever we are in this process on Tuesday - I will freeze the scenarios then. When Cobra does the air art - we will redo EOS - folding in any technical things we have learned.

Please test the more complex situation in Indochina and Thailand - to see if it is viable?

Sid

Will there be some sort of "comprehensive" download on RHS page someday ?

http://www.rhs.akdreemer.com/rhs_home.html

I've installed so many updates now that I don't really know what I have to install to get the scenarios to work as designed...[:'(]

RHS v6.623 PWHEX set final posted at send space

In answer to a quesiton about RHS web site
as soon as the rapid fire changes in art and the v5 - 6 scenarios are finalized and frozen
for long term play (this week I hope) the data at the Web Site will be updated to the frozen level (that is for a new player the entry level will be 6.63)
an other change I am looking at at this time is to release a LEVEL 5 map set , set to level 7 summer map standard level 6 map will become level 7 over time
at this time the the level 5 and 6 map panels are way out of date for art standard only
not PWHEX standard

also in the works I am work in the air art panels do a big clean up and re alignment
of the panels so that the BIT MAP number relates to the slot number this is going take a lot longer than I thought it would weeks in fact and is a 3 phase operation
also I watched with great interest, the standardized art work in the ships that another team is doing, the results which will be folded into the RHS Ship set. (just takes time maybe someone might take on the intergration of the new ship art into the RHS ship art for me that would help)

Cobra

changes
This may be difinitive for level 6.63.

River art now lines up with pwhex - except for one hex - where the Mekong is disconnected from itself - in a location that does not matter. Here pwhex is right -
in case anyone ever wanders there. This is 2 hexes East of Bhamo - itself a new location - the end of the Irrawaddy river transport system IRL and now in RHS.
The Mekong there is not really near anything that matters - and it isn't navigable either.

In Eastern New Guinea we have at last got the trail system "right" - by adding new location Kairuku - you can simulate movement to Wau over NON-trails (by canoe in part) - at horrible costs in time and in supplies. We also added Kappa Kappa - which is actually combined with Rigo and Kalo but the names are absent - so you can understand why the Southern trail is the "Kappa Kappa Track" - while the Northern one is the Kokoda Track. The old trail is now split into N and S versions - the Northern one having a horrible level 1 airfield at Kokoda - and being shorter than the Southern one - people will probably prefer it to Kappa Kappa. But you can't ignore either - probably. The only problem here is the name Salamua is messed up by the icon for Kairuku - but time permitting the overlay can be corrected.

As always there are three files: pwhex.dat ready to use in normal form, the same file called RHSPW6633.dat - in case you ever need to rename it back, and PANPW6633.dat to use in the event the Panama Canal is damaged. The RHS convention is that IF you achieve 90% port damage at Panama City, the canal is closed - and it remains closed until the port damage drops to 10%. This simulates the difficulty of damaging the Gatun Lock and the corresponding difficulty to repair it if it is taken out - except the latter isn't as great as it should be.
