I get it, and I know an Allied payer would say that getting a harder fight than the Allies got late in the war should mean they get more planes and groups too.

It really just means that a lot of the training groups will have to be used in defense. I'm still okay on pilots for now, and I will only train fighter pilots in a few groups from here on out. I'll overfill all groups and add some not so finished pilots if needed later.

I'll also be moving up some of the groups from Singers that can reach Formosa in two hops, so that will get another 150 fighters into Home Defense.

I actually have too many low naval trained pilots and I wish the LB groups could train fighter pilots. I might have to look at the upgrade paths. I'm pretty sure that for 250 PPs I can change them to FB, which might be the way to go. Good for defense while training as well. Recent daylight raids showed that even partially trained 30exp 60 air skill pilots can take down even the best Allied bombers. Now that I know that it give a bit more freedom to use the training groups as supplemental defense groups.

The turn begins with the introduction of a new Allied toy, the B-26 invader. This plane is stacked with front facing 50cal, is crazy fast and quite durable. Tough cookie.

However ...

... where the daytime settings use the front facing guns in the defensive fire calculations, apparently the night interception rules correctly calculates defensive fire due to the majority of attacks coming from below with the upward facing 20mm canons. Maybe I should fly some NF in the day? [:)]

The B-25D1 that I've complained about vociferously got some back this turn. They went down like flies for no hits on the industry in Kumamoto. [8D][:D]

Jakes move in to take over the duties of hitting straggling transports from the Graces which returned safely to Hiroshima.

They hit two damaged xAKs sinking them, plus ...

... three daring buggers got under the CAP at Naha and put 4 x 60kg on a DD there! [X(]

The 150+ corsairs were all set to 32k. I'm sure this will change now. Too bad I didn't run a test on a low kami strike from Kagoshima or Taihoku out here.

Bombers again hit Moppo airfield, but some also branched out to hit the port and the ground troops. A few also went for the ground troops to the West of Moppo with limited success. I'll hold most back next turn, scaling down to 120+ 2E hitting the fields and port of Moppo. I'd like to get the port up in damage so that if the Allies do come forward maybe the unload times will be increased and allow daytime strikes against the transports.

No other major combat took place other than big strikes hitting troops in China.

Here is a shot of the Yamashiro and others in the shipyards at Nagasaki. Not as bad as I'd thought for the initial repair of minor damage. The float damage will be months though for sure. The ship might be able to be used as a port defense ship at nagasaki once the system damage is down though. It'll be vulnerable to smaller quick ships with TT, but could still provide a deterrent to some bombardments, maybe. We'll see.

If he wants to land more at Moppo, the KB will be ready. Currently it's just nice that the base is closed and I don't have to worry about the addition of 250-300 top notch defensive fighters there.

Some supply is moving through Southern Korea. That is good. The North is less supplied, but not critical yet (by 45 standards anyway). [;)]

They'll likely notice some with increased fighter protection, others with none, but now I've learned a bit more about some settings options. The coverage should be better from surrounding bases. Most have a few 70-80exp pilots with a bunch that were trained to 50exp 70air. They've been getting progressively better, most in the 60exp area now, but this threw a bunch of pilots into the 70s.[:)]

Here is the requested info on the KB composition. I'm kind of astounded to still leave this tool in working order, and although severely outnumbered, it still packs a punch as seen recently.

As you can see by the dearth of BBs in it, this is not built for defensive purposes, but for striking. The BBs are needed for keeping Moppo suppressed.

The last few turns have calmed down a bit. This one had very little activity around Moppo, as the field strikes again were shut down for weather. [8|]

Some kamis decided it would be a good idea to hit some DDs at Amami-Oshima, and actually hit one, twice! They got some escort to come along, and broke through the very light CAP to hit one DD. Another one to keep in the bag of tricks for later if he's going to put only one group on CAP in this easiest of his island bases to hit.

This is tempting to try soon. Most often this probably has sweepers preparing or resting with only minimal CAP. I'd have to time things well though.

[font="Microsoft Sans Serif"]SUBS: [/font] Only one interaction, when the Mapiro missed I-202 near Saisho To. The number of subs near Moppo is down to around 25-30 now. [8D]

[font="Microsoft Sans Serif"]KOREA: [/font] Troops begin to move to try to challenge the Allied forces at Masan. There is about 5700AV and a LOT of heavy arty in the hex. I'l now threaten to move behind and see what he wants to do about it. If the troops retreat we'll follow to Moppo. The clear territory here will not help the Allies exclusively in this case. We can potentially use it too. Armor will also move from Gunzan in a few days to coincide with the moves of the other 1500AV no the move.

I will need some more trained pilots, still. All groups are filled now though, and the quality is high.

Couldn't even last one attack in +2 territory with what started out as premium divisions, fully supped and rested. Too bad. I got what I wanted at least. There is a lot of focus here, but I might have chosen anther method of having this happen. I could have played differently here. Ultimately though China is toast, and has been since all supply generation was destroyed.

Its like one of the videos where the cat is laying on the dog's blanket. The dog just circles around, not wanting to get scratched, but really wants it's own bed back. The cat just sits and watches, ready. Eventually the dog takes some action. Will the cat be able to inflict enough damage to fight it off? [:D]

Sent about 80 mines to Saisho To. I'll send about 120 more over the course of the next week. This is a base that a lot traverses through for the Allies and one that he will likely want soon.

Exactly. This isn't the best shot as the TFs are all in various movement modes, but yes, it's aligned speed. The CS cruisers obviously aren't as slow as the CVE, but I like them in this TF as opposed to the others because hey are just a bit slower than the majority of the CVs.

The Chiyoda is there with TF 138 as it has the Kaga, Hiyo and Ryuho which are all slower than the Unryus and others.

For a close in strike last time they were perfectly coordinated. I spent a lot on TF commanders, and hopefully that will continue to pay off.

The Allies move in toward the Korean coastline, one hex North of Keijo, and so the battle begins ...

This move is interesting, and definitely aggressive. I think Jocke finally has had enough, needs to do something in Korea and had to decide to challenge the KB. Interestingly, we got the battle in the spot we wanted, but it was 7 hexes, not 8, unfortunately.

The KB moved to the hex between Shimoneseki and Fusan, well supported by numerous bases on land and close to port for anything damaged. The Allied move North kept a lot of our LBA out of strike range, but the way LBA coordinates, that probably was a good things today. It still leaves the possibility also of a big day two with a lot more LBA involved. We'll see.

The first strikes went in from the LBA at Fusan.

The day began with a bunch of sweeps by P47N and P-51D. They P-51s hit Genzen in North Korea, which was fantastic as there was no CAP there. The P-47s hit Taikyu getting to a lot of the CAP at Fusan. This wore things down a bit and Probably did help the Allied strikes that came in later toward the KB, although a lot of LBA got involved and they were so big, they likely would have gotten through anyway.

We did pretty well agains the P-47N, all things considered. It's still the best plane in game right now though, and showed it.

The first strike from Fusan did get planes through, but only two Judys that missed a CVE. Later everything was murdered as the escort was too light.
