I see Rader is complaining about ground bombing... hmm, you must be doing something right GJ... Keep it up! I've always thought those who are getting whooped usually start complaining about something.

Operational head-fake. He wants GJ to send his 4Es to India and away from other places.

I'm surprised at this late date anyone even tries this sort of cheese.

I'm pretty sure Rader's rant was triggered by events in his other game (the one vs. me). Then again, maybe this suspected mindgame is even sneakier than what you guys are imagining...

It very well could. I just remember he asked how to get rid of PT boats a while back.... and now this.. so that is what I thought it was again.

Reek, you have earned a week out of the dungeon with recent play despite my disagreement on Meruaka Is.. Here's your collar, go sleep with the girls. Here, put this flea medicine behind your neck. It will help with those infernal pests.

Now, you ask for some advice re Treasuries. Hummm, too bad you mean the island sort as I have a lot more advice about T bonds and bills that might come in handy for ruling an empire...but, that is for aother day. So, now that you have achieved a level of momentum and you have your worthy opponent at least seemingly a bit off balance in the Solomons I will offer this:

1. Maintain your momentum where you have the strength to do so. That is; reinforce success. I would not necessarily put much into the Treasuries, but continue your tactical by-passes in the Solomons as quickly as you can. Of courde, it goes without saying you need to avoid the KB/LBA combo that can hurt your carefully hoarded CV fleet.

2. Maybe Choiseul should follow Rekata after Rekata is built to 3+ and operational. Your LBA umbrella has been very successful in warding off harm from hundreds of LYB air attacks. Also, get those paras ready for a drop on Buka, Green Island or Feni Is. Don't tarry on these as you have him in a bit of a scramble as he tries to establish his next MLR (probably Kavieng, Rabual, Gasmata and one of the bases on the north coast of New Guinea. However, he will not have prepped his LCUs much for those bases if you act relatively fast.

2. Thinking longer term, I still like the Solomons, Bismarck Sea and north New Guinea coastal approach to the Phillipines....boringly historical, I know, but they went that way for a reason.

3. And thinking even further, the advise others have given you about opening different approach routes to the HIs is sound. But, I would stay clear of large fleet commitments to the DEI interior until much later in the game for the reasons CR elicted earlier. Nonetheless, Burma and/or the Aleutians or central Pacific are all in play. Like one commentator said. A strong presence in Burma is going to make India a less appealing place to have 400,000+ IJA troops sitting around.

4. Do some reconning on Gasmata and see what is there. It's still a possibility alothough it is likely to now be part of his next MLR and not as inviting as it was previously.

5. Keep in mind you are approaching 44. Time and numbers are not currently on your side, but you are playing the clock much better these days. Do not lose your momentum.

Good luck, Reek....and do take this old, soiled tunic and blanket with you to the kennels. Its a cold night...you could catch a chill. Say hello to the girls and don't fight them so hard for those bones. The girls need to keep their strength up too, you know.

Now, run along, I have other pressing matters to attend....and winter is coming.

Guys, again i'm amazed by your contributions to this match...thanks for being here and for sharing all your wise thoughts!

I don't think Rader is refering to our game in his thread about ground bombing...i haven't used that option so far...the opposite: he has done it extensively in India when hordes of 300 helens smashed my retreating units...i've lost several indian divisions in that way...

Anyway, talking about strategies...

We have taken our decision. I agree with Princeps Bolton: i have to keep the momentum. Luckly enough i've been prepping well, so i have another corp 100% ready for Munda, another one for Choiseul Bay and one for Torokina...but the closer we get to Bouganville, the more threatening will be the KB+LBA...

We decided to move everything back. Old BBs, DDs and precious ships (APA, AKA, LSD) will move back to Ndeni along with our CVEs.
Our strongest SCTF will escort the remaining of our invasion fleet back to Tulagi where a HUGE CAP will be covering.
Waves of PTs will be checking every single water hex, along with our subs that will form a defensive screen from Rekata down south.
Strong Air ASW assets are ordered in the whole area.
CVs will move between Karaikira and Lunga...in a position to aid the local TLT CAP or to be aided by it in case he sends his waves against my retreating ships.
2 DD Divisions will sweep Treasury...let's see if i can avoid a naval bombing...
100 P-47s will sweep Treasury to clear the skies, followed by my transport planes that will get the paras back to Lunga...

Rekata Bay should fall tomorrow...

...GOSH!...i just realized that you cannot sweep your own base...[:o]...fuck! I've just lost 5 para units and an infinite number of transports... Oh Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Can i break the pc-screen with a fist!?...shit shit shit shit shit shit shit

IMHO Rader will have no choice but to counter-attack at the Treasuries. If he lets you keep that base he risks you building it up and smashing Rabaul and Kavieng. As noted, this won't be easy for you to do given that the base is isolated, but I doubt Rader can take the chance. Watch for bombardment TFs and set traps accordingly.

Unfortunately mate the mistake i've just made has already vanished the chance...along with the lost of nearly 200 transport planes...priceless asset... a stupid mistake...just one...and your plan goes into the toilet[:o]

He will sweep Treasury, LRCAP it in order to deny me any reinforcement and, finally vaporize my paras with hundreds of Helens...pretty sure it will happen like this...

Ok, let's forget Treasury and start back thinking about Rekata and ontong Java...

Reek, has the thing w/ the transports actually happened or are you just afraid it will happen? If it does happen, I want that collar back. Get Rekata AF up and running ASAP and cover your paras on the Treasuries. It will be shameful to lose those guys now. Hope the fates smile on you yet again.

I'm afraid it will happen...pretty sure it will...

Yes, Rekata will be ours within the next turn...then we'll base several fighters there and will try to cover Treasury and save what can be saved (i'll be forced to use catalinas cause i fear there won't be anymore a practicable AF in 2 days from now...and also because i won't have a transport fleet anymore)... I was more focused on putting my fleet in safe waters than about treasury...and that's the result.
Oh well...let's just see what happens... we need to start prepping for the next operation asap!

If I was a betting man, I'd wager that your fears at Treasury will prove unfounded. However, you have proven me wrong on more than one occasion, so I dare not contradict you. Good luck! [:)]

My friend this time you were right! [:D] Rader just lost the occasion to destroy my transport fleet...

Was a mixed turn...we got lucky here, but we were unlucky in another circumstances...however i cannot complain.

Our DD division sent to Treasury got in its path a barge Tf evacuating from Choiseul Bay (Rader is evacuating en masse!) and sunk several barges with 600 men...
Then during the day my micthells found a TF at Salamua full of combat troops...(he's so reinforcing NG...)..and sunk several ships...

Then his BBs arrived at Treasury on the second day and my DDs, that managed somehow to escape from his LBA, managed to get very close and fired several salvos of torps...none of them hit the target [:@]...while retreating the BBs managed to hit us and we lost 2 DDs...[:(]

Then his CAs arrived at Milne Bay...where it should have been a DD division...for some reason my DDs ended up 1 hex too far and didn't catch the bastards...bastards that sunk 4 AKs and one xAP with a strong RAAF base force in it...pity[:(]

He used his full KB to annihilate my raiders at Ontong Java...[&:]...while our C-47s were able to extract all my paras (even if they got bucthered during the first day by his Helens and Betties...)...

So not a bad day considering which expectations i had...very strange he didn't try to engage my fleet, nor to LRCAP Treasury...

We could have been luckier with the naval engagements but the loss of 2 DDs, 4 AKs and 1 xAP is not exactly a catastrophe[:)]

And Rekata is ours.... AF level 5...no wonder Rader is evacuating...

Time to reinforce the whole NG situation...now PM is a level 8 AF and Milne bay a level 2 AF...

We'll move forward in the solomons, moving fighters to Rekata and we'll make Milne a bastion...no more free rides for his CA raiders...

Ok, the situation is the following:

Rader is fighting a delaying battle in the Solomons. He's trying to fortify NG (gosh he's really fast in answering to my moves!) and to save what he can from the Solomons.
We have to keep our advance speeded up.

Next steps will be:

Munda
Choiseul Bay+ Treasury
Torokina
