FIFA sold more tickets to people from the USA than any other country, save Brazil.

The biggest problem at the Cup has been the massive wave of fans from Argentina who have no tickets, money or a place to stay. There have been many incidents with them causing problems and being rapidly deported. A bus originating from the Argentina-Brazil border stopped for a break for people to stretch, eat or use a bathroom and when they were supposed to depart 3 guys from Argentina wanted to stay and watch their team play. The bus driver refused and they took the keys to the bus and beat him. In Sao Paulo tent cities have sprung up as many fans from Argentina have nowhere to stay. At the stadiums they are trying to trade their cell phones for tickets. It's nuts. To be fair Argentina has no real foreign credit, their citizens may not take money out of the country or hold foreign currency and they need special permission from the government to travel abroad with money that has virtually no value outside of Argentina.

Drunkeness has also been a problem not limited to any particular group of fans. Party hearty!

I never thought that doing an AAR would be so time consuming and difficult.

Argentina's lot will only get worse. As of last week, the US Supreme court confirmed that the Argentinian debt taken on by American firms has not been discharged by Argentinian defaults. They need to pay up the small percentage of creditors that did not accept their "negotiated settlement" and 50% bond haircut.

Besides tunnel collapses and "**** her right in the *****" videobombing, it's gone surprisingly smoothly. I didn't think it would go as well as it has.

Best World cup since 1990.

Next two might be good, but you do kind of doubt it!

watching the franco-german game now, and 1st half finished...

seems to me, only way french can declare a victory is not come out in the second half and ask americans and british teams to come and play for them... ( russians are not in this cup I believe ... )... seriously french seem helpless...

edit :
seriously french seem helpless...
are we looking the same thing ? we dominated them technically, they are just taller for the first goal [8|].

well -- with all due respect to the valiant men in those days-- you dominated them technically in 1940 also...

we can also blame it on the belgium flank as well ( I mean right flank here - they develop their attacks from right if u havent realized )

WW2 joke, and not we didn't dominated them in 1940 it was the main problem. The german get much trouble in defense we got in our it's what I'm saying.

well liddle hart and many others were of this opinion ( re:ww2 ) and 'fortune favored the bold'.

as for this game I fail to see cohesion in your part, lets see how it ends...ball is round...

I've watched most of the games so far and this went to the worst 3. Team France looked like it more or less gave up somewhere around 80 minutes... As if they were morally beaten, some of the players even stopped running... Huge, huge contrast to the fast paced and very enjoyable Brazil-Chile, USA-Belgium and Argentine-Swiss where both teams gave their everything to the last minute.

Yes. I feel for you and Francois, and the other French fans. But I really must say;

Woof !! This one was strange. Lowe had Muller, Kroos, Ozil, and Klose (Schurrle) facing Matuidi, Valbuena, Benzema, and Griezman. Gotze was still out, as was Podolski. This match was almost a midfield rugby scrum. Neither team showed much breakaway aggressiveness, butt … Very surprisingly, given their lineup, when Germany spread, they played the field and the creases very, very well. Kinda guess Lowe knows what he’s doing.

Sad for France, but that’s futbol. Now Germany has to face (likely) Brasil. A very different side, with a very different paradigm. For US folks it’s like the 1985 Chicago Bears facing the 1981 SF 49ers.Woof !!!

Damn good futbol going on down here.

Now it's break time before Brazil and Colombia. The country has and continues to shut down when Brazil plays. Supposedly some stores reopen in malls after the game. I'm off to a BBQ to see the game. [:)]

Oh, yes. I'm doing a typical US 4th of July BBQ, but my TVs are thundering the Brazil/Colombia game. I've actually got some of my Alabama neighbors interested in what's going on. Go figure.
