The Western Front has quickly turned to disaster once more with my fighter strength all but wiped out. The British north of Bordeaux are dead meat as I couldn't link up with the port.
The only bright spot is that I think I've pretty much destroyed what was left of the Kriegsmarine.

We start with Finland. As expected I was unable to take the capital and Finnish reinforcements are on their way. Even more disappointingly, my three armies could make absolutely no impression on the Finish defenders north of Leningrad. I bring an aircraft (that I really can't afford) to this front..
The Germans bring a destroyer flotilla to attack the Soviet submarines. The Soviets have one destroyer themselves left with which to try and counter.

I have nothing to attack with in the south - and indeed to avoid getting completely destroyed, the Soviets have had to retreat. So the focus remains Minsk and environs... More serious losses for the Soviets this turn, but the Soviets have at least disposed of another German panzer corps as some compensation.

Little solid progress in the USSR (i.e. no losses inflicted), but there was some weakening of front line units and I just need it to RAIN! to ground the German aircraft that are simply causing havoc.

In Finland the Finnish corps north of Leningrad responded to my attacks with one of its own. I concentrated fire and again have managed a weakening of this unit.

I think its been evident for sometime that there is going to be no German collapse in the time remaining. The MPP income is too great and their units are too powerful.
I can look back to the botched attempt to land in the west in late 1943 as where it went wrong - and then the pathetically desperate attempt to make up for it. Whether a decent landing then would have been enough given the strength of line the Germans hold in the east I don't know, but it certainly sealed the Allies fate.
But there is no point quitting at this stage - I might as well continue to play this out and see where the Soviets and the Western Allies finally end up.
As for Japan, I think I played a solid game against them. I stopped income from the NEI in reasonable time I think, and stopped any serious move toward India/Burma through solid defence of Malaya. Big mistake here was probably the rebuff in the Marianas, although, unlike elsewhere, I think I can at least point to some bad luck here with the rain always seeming to fall when the Japanese navy were in trouble.
But once again my invasion of the mainland has left a lot to be desired...
I think there is time to finish off the Japanese in China, and then its just a case of whether or not I can do anything in mainland Japan.

The squeeze is applied more and more to the Japanese pocket. The Japanese have sought to counter-attack in the last couple of turns but have only hastened their own demise. Only the units in the eastern portion of the pocket have supply more than 5 so I would be really disappointed if this is not wrapped up very soon (even with my inability to play the game properly).
Edit: For some reason I can't upload a picture [:(] I'll post them in when this problem is resolved.

Finland goes back to being the trench warfare it was previously as the wounded Finnish corps simply repairs and is as impossible to hit as before. Meanwhile, in the south I am not strong enough to advance and so content myself with hit and run raids against the Romanians.....
