PBEM Aztez (A) vs FDRLincoln(J) (Vorsteher and Hawker replaced)
Moderators: wdolson, Don Bowen, mogami
RE: Bloody days in China continue...
It has been slow going... no new turns since Monday [:(]
These PBEM's can be so frustrating at times.
The "problem" seems to be the fact that Hawker has quite a mess to deal with.
He stated that most of the KB pilots are 40-50 exp... None of those CV's have recieved their upgrades... and he has to go base by base in order to sort out the difficult situation.
So.. Hopefully the game will gather pace soon! [:-]
When it does... You will have a lot of offensives going on soon enough! That's an promise! [:)]

If he gets close to 2-1 bug ont imo .. don't let him defeat you in combat, the permanent losses are horrible.
As for luganville i suspect he's withdrawing .. send in some DD groups .. fast attack might bag you some choice goodies !

I know... If he get 2:1 odds than I'll retreat my forces to Sining. I think that these Chinese troops are doomed and that is only matter of time.
I like the DD raid idea on Lunga but there is a small problem to that... I can't do it at the moment since most of my fleet units are at Canton Island preparing for future offensives.

Good that you got the game going on again. Naybe you could spare the Brit CVs to harass enemy in south ?

Thanx! The same problem with RN CV's as it was with those DD's.
I think I need most of fleet assets (US & RN) when I go for raids in the Solomons. The problem with this region is that he has so many solid airfields there. (Rabaul, Buna, etc).
It is too dangerous to go there without sufficient air and naval power. [:)] That's my view of the situation.

You may well be right. Why go with couple of CVs when you can go with several ! [:D] Centtral Pacific is bound to be less defended due to distances between islands and smaller IJ airfields.

I have given a thought about new operation. What I have been thinking is visiting Truk with my CV fleet. Any thoughts about this idea???
I don’t know if he has valuable ships at harbour there. If so than this operation might be good but I think the success of this operation depends on the suprise aspect. If I’am lucky enough to move in undetected than I think he would suprised since he still controls Solomon’, Gilbert’s and Marshall’s.
This is latest news from this ongoing saga.

Runway hits 72
I have given a thought about new operation. What I have been thinking is visiting Truk with my CV fleet. Any thoughts about this idea???
I don’t know if he has valuable ships at harbour there. If so than this operation might be good but I think the success of this operation depends on the suprise aspect. If I’am lucky enough to move in undetected than I think he would suprised since he still controls Solomon’, Gilbert’s and Marshall’s.
This is latest news from this ongoing saga.

RE: Japanese infantry advance in Northern China
Ground attack mostly disrupts and can hit morale too. the actual losses are pretty much irrelevant afaik. I havnt tested this but i ground attack prior to assault and if singapore is any indicatior to how effective it is in my game .. then its extremely useful. ( japanes inability to hit me due to AA has made singapore a bastion in mid april with 9 forts that havnt been dented once)
Aztez .. wake ? why bother ? its been a grave before , dont repeat it if you can. better targets elsewhere now imo.
Truk ?? brave move .. whats his LBA like .. dont forget you'll probably hit tony/tojo combination with betties etc. could get nasty . but a port strike would be great of you can pull it off. also flood the place with subs to stop any escapees.
Personally .. grab tarawa and move up to surround kwajelien before attempting deep raids ( yes i know KB is hurt badly ).
anyway .. good luck as ever [:D]

You have a good solid point... maybe Wake Island is useless. Allthough I really would like to get my revenge [;)]
I have actually started another PBEM againts Erstad... Intresting to see whether I can make Singapore a rock solid fortress [:D]
More about South Pacific in the situation report...

Day Air attack on Lunga , at 67,97

B-24D Liberator: 2 destroyed, 2 damaged
Japanese ground losses:
12 casualties reported
Airbase hits 25
Airbase supply hits 3
Runway hits 138
My CV Fleet has moved out of Canton Island... It will move beyond Gilberts Island chain. I actually noticed that he has around 40 ships at Rabaul harbour and that is a tempting target! [:D] ...Also, another 30 ships should be at Truk!
I'll try to sneak in so to speak... I don't know what kind of LBA force he has here but we will soon find that out. Hopefully this operation isn't going end up in disaster.
Also, there are 5 separate Bombarment TF heading towards Gilberts... 2 TF will hit Tarawa, 2 TF Makin Atoll and 1 TF Apanamarri. Intresting to see what kind of damage I can cause with these naval assets.

Well good luck !
maybe retake lugnaville next too. must be very beaten up by now. Also maybe bypass it completely and let it wither on the vine. Or even sneakier .. take and build up efate then use it to train up your fighters hittng luganville. [;)]

RE: Japanese infantry advance in Northern China
You should have sufficient CV power now to make major attacks in CentPac or SouthPac. And your subs are very dangerous now.

RE: Japanese infantry advance in Northern China
I agree that Tarawa and surrounding atolls are important for any future plans.
It is also intresting to what Hawker will do about Russia. He made an inquiry about houserule concerning Russia.

RE: Japanese infantry advance in Northern China
I have no experience of fighting in Russia so yes it would be intresting to see what happens! [:)]
The situation there is not bad. Most of the key bases have level 9 airfields and level 9 fortifications. Also, Russian airforce has been training almost 2 years now and they do have solid experience levels too [:)]
