Battlewagons.

Arizona was lost at Pearl. California foundered off Lahaina trying to make.........wait for it..... California after her minor flood damage was repaired at Pearl.

Mississippi and Warspite passed honorably with their guns blazing.

y guess is two WJD fleet carriers swimming with the fishes. Most of the damage was done by the SBD's
If they sank, then you should see "ground" losses on the air losses screen for Zeros/Kates/Vals on the date they sank.

It wouldn't have anything to do with Do Not Upgrade and no SBD-1 in the pool????

Watch out they'll have you up for cruel and unusual punishment (flying obsolete A/C) next....

(Even a museum flight requires one exhibit. [:D])

Indeed, there are ZERO SBD-1's and only 2 SBD-3's. I am not going to waste SBD-3's on this lot. I think I must have disbanded them a while back..probably during the fight on New Scotland. It seemed a good idea at the time.

I will let them "gestate" for a while.

If you give themat least 1 aircraft, they will train effectively as far as I can tell; although the overall skill of the aircrews and ground crews at simulating engine noises will not increase as fast...

Yes about 35 Vals/Kates on the 26th and about 45 Vals/Kates/Zeroes on the 27th.

Well, since Harthacnut, his son, lost England, I think they were correct to offer the less than sanguine assessment.

You could say Cnut was a Great Cnut but Harthacnut was a lesser Cnut.

If you ask me, the whole family was a bunch of Cnuts.....well..that's what I heard.

Sign in today LAXAKE. This is not really a foreign language but an abbreviation used by gastroenterologists when a wimpy patient complaints about the bowel prep for colonoscopy.

We have now reached July, 1942.

No major action in the South Pacific today as the Jap transports and cripples are making their way back to Noumea and Koumac and Efate. The sub gauntlet has been quite efective (see below) although S-41 got her bell rung quite badly by some Jap escorts who didn't get the memo that the war is over. I keep watching for a third carrier deck to go under but it is not to be. The 3rd CV and Hosho are still unspotted.

SouPac Air HQ is up and running at Suva with Adm Halsey as air boss. [:D] SouPac HQ with Nimitz in charge is two days out of Pearl and headed to Fiji. The original plan was for Auckalnd but now that Fiji appears secure, they will go to the more forward base. The first B-24 squadron of the PTO will be in Fiji tomorrow. The first F4 recce aircraft in the Pacific are also at Fiji and are an order of magnitude more effective than the Cats. A photo sweep of Tanna revealed no aircraft at the level 4 field there. This was an opportunity for the B-17's, but anticipating a trap, I reconned 1 day more and there were nearly 60 fighters and 30 bombers there. This makes almost 120 operational fighters at Tanna and Noumea alone. I suspect some may be the Zeroes from the carriers. In any event, it does not appear consistent with a Wee Jap Dobber retirement from New Scotland. Bombers at Tanna extend the Nettie torpedo threat range to well East of Fiji. Consequently, Suva retains about 75 operational fighters (about 90% on CAP).

PS...Some Stuarts (the tanks, not the effete royals) attacked teh Naval Guard unit on the North coast of Fiji. As the Naval Guard unit appears to have no antitank weapons it is a bit unchivalrous....oh well....we are over it.

Upon the suggestion of Admiral Lord SPrior, Allied forces will attack the Wee Jap Dobbers today at Suva. They appear quite beat up but if it doesn't work I can blame it him. [:D]

The Two BB's at Suva are going to bombard the Japs at Nadi today. We shall see what a 14 inch AP round does to a Ronson Type II

The zero/zero/two club (no torps in bow or stern tubes, 2 rounds left for the deck gun in case Yamato is spotted [:D])

You gotta love these skippers.

With all that Browning ammo, I thought you were using the boat as a mobile flak trap to catch the LYB en route to attack your ships near Suva.

This is true. They are mobile Betty-killing machines, but most of the machine gun ammo is reserved for swimmers or Wee Jab Dobbers trying to get into a life boat.

Hilarious bit of marketing.

Stalker Girl brought home a set of oven mitts with the logo for a burn center emblazoned on them. [:D][:D]

It is clever but I'm not sure I understnad the purpose. Is the user supposed to call the burn center after an accident?

You might want to check the quality of the mitts first.

I had that EXACT same thought about 2 mscs before I grabbed hold of a broiler tray with about 2 ouces of molten hamburger grease in it. [:D]

Fortunately, all is well.
