I re-read the more recent comments and upped the memory for tracker, and it solved my problems. Thanks for talking me down from the roof ;-D

Now I have to remember how to use it ;-D

I give up. Cannot get it to run under Windows 7 x64. Keep getting the java out of memory error. I tried all the workarounds listed on the site.

I have Windows 7 64bit like you, several problems with Java that I have been able to resolve reading this thread.

I just moved to a 64 bit machine. The tracker will not work; it did work fine before on the old machine. I keep getting the following error:
CAN'T LOAD A 32 BIT .DLL ON A 64 BIT MACHINE.
I have the latest .dll in the file folder and have deleted the old db files.
Any ideas?

Help with Tracker

Post by Canoerebel »

I'm considering playing as Japan in a PBEM if I can get Tracker up and running. Never used Tracker before, never tried to download it, and don't know anything about how computers work. In other words, I'm a hard case. This may be over my head.

I'm using version 1106i of AE because I'm partial to dinosaurs.

I actually did get something going - Tracker runs...but it just gives me endless error messages (see below). Any suggestions?

It looks like you need to edit the properties file, it cannot find your WitP:AE directory.

Where you found the files there is a tab for setup. It will show you what needs to be edited.

Errrrr, can you say that in simple southern? I usually speak English, but when computers are involved I somehow lose the ability to comprehend even the simplest statements. For instance, I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

Computers are magic. I am not.

Wait a minute, I do think I know where you are pointing me to. I'll give it a try.

I think it loaded and ran.

I did get one warning message: Could not initialize SigInt information for first turn.

The Tracker Screen did come up. I haven't tried to use it or read anything yet, but I'll try that tonight or tomorrow.

I guess that's a (known) bug?
I can hardly believe that it will cost 10 times more than the regular sum while being less speedy than full acceleration?

Looks right. There will be no sigint info until you run a turn. It is normal to get that error message for the first turn.

Joey you need to install the C++ redistr for 32 bit.

Speaking of "next release", are we gonna see it before the next change of season?

[:(] I'm in my early 30s and feel way to young to be so lost with my PC.

I have Windows 7 64 bit with the latest Java running.

I followed the instructions for the tracker religiously.

It works on my desktop (Windows XP)but totally fails every time on my new laptop (bought purely as a portable WitP AE platform).

I am seeing the following error (see attached).

After more than four hours and two days of forum searching, posting, and experimenting, I'm posting here for help.
