RE: Naval and Defense News
Microwaves aren't mentioned in that article; do you mean ultrasonic jamming? If so I don't think it's worth implementing; I don't see how ultrasonic attacks could realistically be used more than (at most) tens of metres from a target; high frequency sound gets dampened pretty quickly.
If you do mean microwave jamming, it's already in CMANO; radar jamming with X-band, S-band, etc radars is already using microwaves, while high power microwave weapons are simulated through weapons like CHAMP (known as JASSM-ER [O-EMP] in CMANO) which can be launched by the B-1B 2018 IBS unit.

The insider who broke the news of the ongoing construction of China's 3rd carrier and first LHD is none other than a retired PLAN officer, best known under his online handle pop3. He has a flawless track record of accurate, if very generalizable leaks on the PLAN's construction schedule.
https://twitter.com/xinfengcao/status/1 ... 55776?s=20
So, for most of us PLA watchers his words are usually Gospel. The 3rd carrier and 1st LHDs being constructed in Shanghai is more or less confirmed. We might see modules by the end of this year.

Thanks Dragon029. Dang, I forgot to edit it, I was actually meant ultrasonic. But is still interesting. There are so many tinfoil theories (to block radiations, not just mere conspiracies) surfaced this month.

Someone has beg to differ, which I rarely take credit from him. He believed it's just another LPD:ORIGINAL: Hongjian

Yeah, pop3 only said "Shanghai". But Shanghai has multiple yards and not just JNCX.

This is a whole new meaning of "false target"... it, I mean, they are literally moving and reshaping different formations on the surface.

Oceanalph, a maker of unmanned surface vessels in Zhuhai, Guangdong province, recently performed a technological demonstration involving 56 miniature unmanned boats off near the Wanshan Islands in the South China Sea.
The test included formation maneuvers and a task assignment mechanism, aiming at verifying the collaboration capability of the company's unmanned boats.
It also displayed the huge potential of unmanned vessels in future naval warfare, Oceanalph said in a statement.

NSM (Naval Strike Missile) wins the LCS and FFG Anti-Ship Missile contract. Not that it was a surprise since Boeing and Lockheed had both dropped out the Harpoon and LRASM.

U.S. Navy Selects Raytheon & Kongsberg NSM for Over-The-Horizon Weapon System
https://www.navyrecognition.com/index.p ... ystem.htmlThe winner of the U.S. Navy Over-The-Horizon Weapon System (OTH WS) competition is the Naval Strike Missile (NSM) by Raytheon and its Norwegian partner Kongsberg. The information came out last night in the U.S. Department of Defense Contract Announcements.
RE: Naval and Defense News
Global times just reported it on Twitter and it has garnered quite of comments regarding its purpose. Mostly suggested for arming a swarm of unmanned boats with bombs for kamikaze attack, but nobody focus on its formational trait that can be used as fleet decoy, which is far more strategically threatening then just ramming enemy ships with them:ORIGINAL: Dysta

He can say "Yes you are!" about SCS militarization:

However, when the response is no, then it's time to ready your missiles:Mr Mattis, speaking at the annual Shangri-La Dialogue summit in Singapore, said: "Despite China's claims to the contrary, the placement of these weapon systems is tied directly to military use for the purposes of intimidation and coercion.
China's policy in the South China Sea stands in stark contrast to the openness that our strategy promotes, it calls into question China's broader goals.
"The US will continue to pursue a constructive, results-oriented relationship with China. Co-operation whenever possible will be the name of the game and competing vigorously where we must... of course we recognise any sustainable Indo-Pacific order has a role for China."
China accused the US of trespassing after two Navy warships sailed near a reef claimed by Beijing on Sunday.
https://uk.news.yahoo.com/china-general ... 48008.html
"Any irresponsible comments from other countries cannot be accepted," Lieutenant General He Lei said at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore.
It came just hours after US Defense Secretary Jim Mattis told the security summit that China's military build-up and deployment of weapon systems in the contested sea was aimed at intimidating its neighbours.

S-400 has becomes the anti-US weapon, not because of its monstrous SAM range, but also the name itself could infuriate US, enough to cause diplomatic repercussions against buyers and the seller (Russia):

When identity matters, wars will happen:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/mon ... ally-feel/
And US want to prove it:
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa- ... SKCN1J030R
There is one known scenario about China's reunification war happen in 2019, but without foreign interference. This situation can make Old vs New (1996 vs 2018) debates even more uncertain, because it's a world war material. I would hardly predict everyone will end up like in Chain of Wars DLC pack, but still is a horrible thought.
EDIT: If the Taiwan Strait crisis 2018 escalate with SCS conflict altogether, UK and France would also likely see how it develops, militarily:

Full-scale mockup of the "Anjian" (Dark Sword) UCAV - this project seemed to have not died after all!

First unveiled in 2006 as model during Zhuhai Airshow, this stealth UCAV is designed for air-to-air combat.

Unfortunately the comment section is infested with frivolous chats about Chinese gloriousness, especially they got bigger mood to expect the war around China than anything else. Reminded me of 10 years ago, the test flight photo of Dark Sword has the same treatment, because nobody believes China can make stealth material or engines, referred by Robert Gates.ORIGINAL: bradinggs

Technology progressed quite a bit since 2006. Especially in terms of swarm AI and drone tech. One major shrimp in Chinese BBS basically confirmed that the Dark Sword is conceptionalized as a "loyal wingman"-type UCAV.
