To all players of this game:

Oh boy, did I do many mistakes during the course of this war and game. I only hope to have a chance to learn from them yet.

To Montesaurus, I know/hope you mean it well telling me that Austria had fought that well, but my intelligence and instinct is telling me that that is just a kind way of giving some honor, because everything else has been taken :) It suited you extremely well that I was / am such fool (but that's obviously my fault, not yours - and I am not angry/upset though it may seem like it)
- Austrians didn't fight that well
- Saxony joining you was/ is lot better outcome than you'd have expected
- any good COGEE player would have surrendered the instant - it was dumb from me to fight, dumb, dumb (in the position my armies, economy were in)
- once fighting I have done big strategic and tactical mistakes - I was caught of guard and never recovered from it.
- the only good point is that I have managed not to loose my army :)

To all Monarchs,

Austria was easily defeated. I hope your worries about a strong Austrian powers are calmed. We have lost 9 territorries through this war (4 to Russia, 3 to france and 1 and 1 to Turkey and Spain I'd assume). We are now last on the rankings and I hope your decisions will now not be affected by how to harm Austria the most, but more so to do good to your nation.

I understand that defeat of Austria was essentialy a good thing for everyone because of its glory points. The only thing I don't understand, why have Britain and Prussia basically given the Triumvirate a very easy and cheap victory, by cheap I mean free in this case. I am unsure how that will be of any gain for you in the long run.

The French-Mediterran triumvirate will seek to expand in their due time, I wouldn't be worried about that not happening. We wish good luck to nations that might stand in their way. Austria won't be able to help to maintain the balance of power for at least two campaining seasons.

France is rich and can fund / fight any wars now. Even if you defeat ar attrition their armies, they will simply come back again. So please consider this when looking at Austria as a target next time.

I will say I disagree that Austria should have done an immediate surrender. Austria was not fighting alone, her friends were just out of position to help her.

The French and allies did a good job of keeping their eye on the ball (ie. Vienna) but no doubt had some luck (the Saxons).

Our side had some bad luck (especially for initiative for moving).

Once the Spanish came in (not sure if that was the original plan or the reaction to others entering the war for Austria), the balance of power did change. Austria then reacted accordingly.

Look at things this way: you gained 5 free provinces when the papacy joined you, so your losing provinces isn't that bad. Your army, despite fighting, is intact. Your NM ain't bad at all (surprises me it isn't worse). Also, remember we only have 15+ years to go (I can't remember what year we on [8|])

As far as last on the Glory rankings, Russia says welcome! It gets lonely down here by ourselves. [:D] I wouldn't expect you to be here long though.

I am a novice at this game, but it seems clear to me that there are LOTS of ups and downs. I am surprised to find Spain momentarily atop the "glory board", but I don't expect that to last!

To Spain: Well, well. Enjoy the target on your back and I hope it will make others consider attacking out of good sport like you did to me :) No, no you shouldn't be modest about your glory like I was. [:)]

Something funny in Sardinia?

Post by DaveConn »

I have noticed something and am wondering if what I am seeing is a bug, or if there is some other explanation I am missing, so any advice is welcome.

You may recall that Sardinia is a conquered province of Spain. I happened to notice about a "game-year" ago in the economic report that Sardinia was contributing no money to the Spanish economy; and I have checked every turn since then, and Sardinia has never contributed any money. (This may have been the case since we acquired the province; don't know for sure). Then this last turn, I checked the other items showing up for Sardinia in the economic report. That shows that Sardinia is contributing iron and something else (can't remember what); but the province development screen doesn't show Sardinia producing ANY of the items that are shown for Sardinia in the economic report.

Anyone have any idea what is happening?

Could be corruption or waste or whatever it is called, but I don't think so. The engine with this game is great, but I still find some of how the numbers are presented a bit obscure and nonintuitive.
The x-ray is her siren song. My ship cannot resist her long. Nearer to my deadly goal. Until the black hole. Gains control...
