RE: Brutal carrier battle
Also teh Bunker Hill is gone. And perhaps a few CVLs and the CV Hornet as well if they do not manage to escape tomorrow.

RE: Brutal carrier battle
The US Navy did strike back and the damage on Japanese side must be about equal. I'm retreating, but the Japanese navy has been very aggressive in the past. The battle may continue tomorrow...

RE: Operation Kill Em All
Since a lot of planes were unable to get back to the damaged or sunk carriers, these landed on the few intact carriers that were left. Consequently, these were unable to launch a coordinated strike. A recipe for disaster. The Japanese Imperial Navy did strike back and damaged most of the carriers that were left. The CVE Anzio sank and the CV Enterprise will most likely follow. The USAAF flew in a lot of fighters to Lae in order to save the Navy's ass.

Great AAR dennishe!!
Always an exciting read!!
What do you use to lay out your AAR's?.....it looks so great!![:)]

I use MS powerpoint.
I use a black box wherein I type. And I import the screenshots via Paint. Other pictures are directly copied into powerpoint. Once a page is finished, I select everything one the page and save it as a jpeg. To make a new page, I simply duplicate an old one and remove everything I don't need. Very easy and it costs hardly any more time than making a 'regular' AAR...
RE: Operation Kill Em All
Without sufficient battle-ready carriers it will be difficult to counter this kind of harassment. Fortunately, it costs the enemy a lot of planes and pilots.

Kavieng and Kusaie are both level 4 airfields (soon to be 5). Time to close down Truk and to force the Japanese Navy further back eastwards...

I missed this one earlier, but in post 348 above you show BB Alabama squaring off against Fuso and Mutsu, but make no mention of it in your narrative. Can we get a sense of what happened in that one?

The battle was quite a massacre as the Allied warships did a poor job. The BB Alabama was out of action after the first salvo. Since NJP is welcome in this AAR, I cannot give you much detail on the status and whereabouts of the BB Alabama, except for that she is still alive...
I'v chosen a format wherein data is clustered per battlefield, but do realize that this makes it a little tricky to read as the order wherein the updates appear on the forum is not always the best one for readability. Also sometimes it may take a while before the outcome of the battle is disclosed as in this case. Once in a while I upload part of the story as a pdf in the correct order. This should increase readability a bit. (download here) It does take a very long time to load though...

Good Luck! Be aware that NJP is extremely aggressive and will try to attack you wherever he can...
RE: Operation Kill Em All
There are a few problems why the Soviets are performing so poorly despite their huge army.
1) reforming the Soviet divisions takes a very very very long time.
2) the Soviet air force was wiped out immediately and consequently only a few bombers are available for recon missions. Consequently, the Soviets do not have a good idea where the Japanese main troops are. Surprise attacks have isolated and destroyed many Soviet troops. And counter attacks of the Soviets on small Japanese garrisons often failed as the small Japanese garrison turned out to consist of 8+ divisions. Ouch....

Saulaki, NE of Darwin, (I may be wrong in spelling) has been secured. From here the Allies can push toward Java and to the Philippines.
