20 July 1942 - GHQ STAFF CONFERENCE

Post by PT boat skipper »

20 July 1942

GHQ STAFF CONFERENCE

1. INMON SAKUSEN

Intelligence reports indicate very few enemy units on Ceylon.
INMON SAKUSEN supplementary plan C, the conquest of Ceylon, has been approved by GHQ Command.
Southern Expeditionary Army is to execute plan C with 2nd Army as main element, supported by KB1 and 21st Air Flotilla.
New reserve to Southern Expeditionary Army will be KB2 as long as 2nd Army is committed.
D-day is 17 August.
After the rapid conquest of Ceylon, 2nd Army will revert to Southern Expeditionary Army reserve.

2. KATSUIRO SAKUSEN

The phase 3 has been postponed since KB2 is to be temporarily assigned to Southern Expeditionary Army.
In addition, this operation will re-focus on DP2 Torres Strait rather than DP3 New Caledonia.
This will ensure mutual co-operation between land-based air and KB2, as well as much less need of fuel for shipping.
Details and OOB of phase 3 will be provided in the next monthly report (19 August).

3. SANGOKU SAKUSEN

This operation has been postponed IOT successfully conclude INMON SAKUSEN.
There is also necessary to allow more divisions to refit properly as well as organizing a new Air Division.
Meanwhile, smaller tactical operations will be permitted if local success can be assured.
D-day will be announced in the next monthly report (19 August).
