Is Fafnir a true Champion or just a man with tricks?
[:)]
Great post Elvis, unfortunately for me, very true.

It's my 2nd game with Axis, so I don't expect much, but I will try to pressure USSR as much as possible, will see how far I will get. But it is only end of 1939 and I am outplayed in the seas already. And something nasty is coming from Allies for sure. April 1940 perhaps? [;)]

As Allies I will follow my usual turtle plan, to secure somehow good position after France is out. Wish I was so courageous with my fleet as my great opponent, I am leeting him to run lose a little bit too much. And pressure from Axis on land is hard already, praying for weather, then I think I can last up to May maybe? For a change, IEA may get interesting, we will see.

I didn't play for more than 2 months, but now it's a real joy.

Would love to see an AAR of the mirrored games Fafnir vs Marcinos1985.

Lots to learn from there.

I don't have time to do a really fleshed out AAR. I am taking notes though, so I may somehow summarize games after they end.

What characterizes both games is a pure aggression from my opponent, no matter which side he plays. He pushes his units to the limit, sometimes not minding loses. But in the end exchanges favour him somehow.

I am now in 1941 in my game with Fafnir (Axis). What impresses me most so far is his naval game, have never seen anything like it before. It is just catch up from round 1.

In my games against him (Fafnir) it was like he could see through the FoW.

Seemed he knew where every unit was be it on land or sea (I said to him it was like he could read my mind).

Hopefully one day he will revel his secret with a Video of how he does it on U Tube, but I don't see that coming for a long time yet [:D]

Good Luck Marcinos1985.

A lot of us know the pain you are going through

Game ended:
Fafnir (Axis) vs calcwerc (Allies). Fafnir wins. No chance. Early Sealion, smart Africa and Atlantic war, early Barbarossa. Its June1941 and Leningrad has fallen, no convoys for Russia and UK practically out of the game.[&o]
Will have to practice a lot more :)

Mirror games started:
Fafnir (Axis) vs. Marcinos1985 (Allies) 1-0
Marcinos1985 (Axis) vs. Fafnir (Allies).

Well, it went worse than I thought. Allies resigned in Nov 1940. Of course it was still somehow playable, but Axis did so damage to UK fleet and ground forces, that made me completely demoralized. Especially that some of these could be avoided.

France fell in April 1940, at least month too early because of 2 silly mistakes. In China Nanning, Changsha nad Chengchow were lost, with highest pressure against Sian.

I misplayed my fleet totally. Lost 2 LC's and a sub (!) to enemy planes quite early, and in last turn my sub hunting group has been ambushed by several axis capital ships, with 2 DD's down. One of carriers in the North got mauled badly, I don't know how he got such an odds with bad shape maritime bomber.

But you may cope with everything above. Unfortunately, in NA I outplayed my self. He generally abandoned it, leaving only some garrisons, so Tobruk and Benghazi were in UK hands quite quickly. But I overstretched, trying to get to Tripoli Asap, or at least bomb port to deny reinforcements. I actually succeded with port bombing, but he simply took Tunis in response. Then operated most of the Luftwaffe (which mauled Malta shortly before) near Tripoli and started bombing me, killing WDF in process and seriously harming UK HQ. A disaster hard to recover from, readiness and morale of my troops were all very low, supply never caught up during this rush. Maybe I should have stopped in Benghazi to refit and just wait, but against these planes and probably 2 tanks this would be "interesting".

I probably should have continued for educational purposes, to see how Russia would go. But I strongly believe that against such a strong player you have to do some damage to Axis, to make his job in USSR harder. Instead, he did damage to me. [:'(]

Axis game is on and will last longer, more for edcuational purposes, because I already see writing on the wall. I expected what he was going to do, but I failed to prevent that completely. Shame. [:)]

newbie here. I keep seeing ELO rules mentioned in this tread but can't seem to find what those are. Is it just the standard game rules. Any help is appreciated as I would like to participate in some ELO games. Thanks in advance for helping out a newbie.
