Turn 7 End of Turn

Hopefully this sheds some light on how I am working my, "AD HOC Musings" I had on supply. I even think Loki was talking about something on this line. Of course please feel free to tell me I am an idiot or correct things I have wrong. So far this seems to be working pretty well for me.

Your supply system is working better than mine.
Same turn and mine is very short of supply in many areas!
You must be doing something right.[:)]

This is very helpful HLYA - thank you. Do you put a higher priority on the "extra" front line depots than say leadership changes or support unit movement? I'm starting to think that all my admin points should be going to supply/logistics in '41.

You are welcome. Normally I dump all my points into Supply/logistics depots, construction engineers to repair damage railyard & port damage to get those level 2 railyards repaired. This game I did do a couple of leadership changes otherwise I concentrate 100% on just logistics. Without logistics you are dead in the water in my opinion. I am experimenting here and seems to be working pretty well so far. If anyone else has further insights I am all ears :)

Thank you HLYA - that's the approach I'm currently taking as well. Although there are opportunities to replace good Axis leaders with excellent ones it seems that good will have to be "good enough" as the Axis focuses on logistics.

The game doesn't restrict moving the HQ's with good leaders to where you need them. Thus just re-assign the HQ's with the good leaders into your main thrust. Of course you may or may not move the divisions out of it. This is what I did in this game and built Army Group Center from the top down by moving the Corps HQ's with good leaders into it. Thus saving precious AP to get your logistics in great shape.

Thanks for the supply and rail update.

I used a lot of depots in my recent GC game and also prioritised port/railyard repair. I also got good supply results. Are you able to say how you bring forward the "laggers" from the 2nd Army? In my game I walked them up the highway along with the divisions who reduced the Bailystok pocket. In hindsight with the good freight situation, I could have railed at least one of them forward per turn to join the main advance to get even better momentum.

Ahh, I thought you were running the rail from Lvov to Chernovtsy. The Lvov-Odessa rail line looks to far behind the front lines (and no railyards between). It is suitable for your game as you are not pushing too hard in the south. If you wanted to drive to Rostov or Kharkov ASAP I think a different setup would be better.

Your 2nd Army probably isn't my 2nd Army :) Meaning I switch Divisions around like leaves in the wind.

The Lvov - Odessa Rail line incorporates a great many level 2 railyards. This turn 8 coming up I have a choice to convert 2 single track lines to continue on to Dnep (Blue = Rumanian FBD & Orange = German FBD) on those 2 single track line or take the German FBD to finish the track to Kiev. At this point my thinking is to continue on with the two single track lines I marked in the photo and bring the FBD that finishes the VL track in the North to catch up the rail to Kiev marked in Red. Granted that FBD wont be on the rail conversion until turn 9 but this way I get the South rail network up and running quickly.

I will see what Jubjub presents me with on defense and make my determination. The picture pretty much shows turn 11ish FBD conversion with red lagging a bit behind.

**** Please note that there is a level 2 railyard at Kriyoi Rog and another a few more hexes to the east from Kryoi Rog on the rail line. Gotta have those Level 2 railyards :)

Turn 8 Beginning of Turn (Real time turn no delay)

Digging deeper into the first 3 Events I want to show my Soviet Garrison and few comments before continuing to Event 4.

Here is my deposition of forces for the Soviet Garrison. Please note that I have sent Air & plan on filling out more ground units too. i.e. Artillery, Engineer, construction, and Flak this turn. Just trying some things out.

Turn 8 Beginning of Turn (Real time turn no delay)

Air Forces in Soviet Union Garrison

Here are the Air Forces so far. I figured I wasn't going to put some of these minor allies on the front line so why not put them here. I still want to see if I can bring these out of the Soviet Union Garrison later on. I know for a fact that the minor allies if ever sent to Reserves they CAN NOT go back to the map. Only to the Soviet Garrison! That is why my darn Hungarian Transport is in the Soviet Union Garrison. I really think this is an oversite by the powers to be. Maybe gawd will fix in the future ;-) Now I will see if there is a way out of the Soviet Union Garrison at a minimum to the map, keep your fingers crossed.

Turn 8 Beginning of Turn (Real time turn no delay)

Partisan, partisans, and MORE partisans

Did I mention I have partisan everywhere? Turn 8 seems to be the trigger in game to throw every partisan to the map & seems to not have calculated the German side. But again I said seems & will see how it plays out. At least I am over the 60 requirement on the Garrison.

Italian Division from Balkans to North Africa sent last turn. Should be there in 3 more turns, hopefully. Maybe it will make a difference.
