Japan's good shape amazes me so much. I would like to be in a good situation as yours whenever I reach closing days of 1945.


It looks that over the course of the match you haven't grabbed many points from army losses. May I ask you where else you've farmed points, then? I have always been prone to believe that army loss points and a/c "trading" are the most reliable ways to put a lot of distance between your opponent and the autovictory.
I am starting to believe I'm having a very wrong approach at this regard.

… I' not sure why you think airframe attrition is not good to stave off AV. It's the only VP generator I have now, and it's getting me 100-200 VPs every day he Strat bombs now.

Well, the day you posted results above he lost 244 AC … Given that a big number of those are 4E, you earned closer to 400VP that day. GREAT job!!!

It's 1946!!![&o][&o][&o]

I never thought I'd play a game this far, but if I did I was sure jets would be involved. I still haven't seen the P-80. Where are they? Maybe Japan can field a jet before the Allies. I am now starting production of the Ki-94-II at 30/month, so barring sudden factory destruction I should be able to test those out. [:)]

The Allies continue to bomb the crap out of troops in China and move masses into Chungking to reduce forces there. They're up to nearly 8K AV now, and a LOT more are still pouring in.

Looking at the VP screen below I notice the base points for Japan are quite low. He will gain VPs for both Chungking and Chengtu on the Allied side, but I think Japan won't lose too many, since they're already out of supply. Troop loss points will be a major Allied area of gain in the next few months, but Strat bombing aat least offers some permanent points to Japan as well.

It might be tight to get the 2:1, but I think Dan will do it. If it's getting close to the wire he'll take some risks and send in the navy, getting a foothold on the Home Islands, I'm sure.

The beginning of the end happened at Chungking on the 2-3rd. The forts were lowered to 4 by a massive force up to 12kAV. Yikes!

In other news the Allies employ very effective sweeps at Shimonoseki and still some CAP is around to hit a few bombers. I'll now restrict range a bit since that base has little left to defend.

Chungking falls! The base VP totals don't change too much actually, and the IJA loses about 800 VPs in troop losses to only about 40 for the Allies. Of course more losses will come as these troops are chased down.

More sweeps today. The Allies send in the Twin Mustangs, which surprisingly don't do so well. Overall the Allied sweeps do get 3:2 but of course all over Japanese bases, so the pilots game is probably still going our way here. Getting these air loss points really helps the cause in the late going here.

Quote a while if he loses 200+ too!! [:)] This is a great ratio for this time in game, and this scale of sweeps is a bit rare.

My pilots pools were worse about a year ago. Once I got the training groups things have been fine. I've converted most of them now to kamis, which in these groups fly CAP with 1/3 of the pilots while having a larger group of them still training up and getting better.

The pilot equation has been going toward the Japanese for a long time, and most groups, even those that have lost pilots to these sweeps, would have lost less than the Allies. I'll be very curious to see what the Allied pilots look like by the end of the game.

I've got gazillions of HI, plenty of fuel, huge stores of armaments and even some vehicles. I just don't (again) have the one thing that allows me to use any of them; supplies.

It's hard to watch a 30 minute replay and look at the turn realising the only action I can take is to move fighter groups to a base that actually has enough supply to replace their airframes! [;)]
