Watched Philadelphia for the first time in yonks. A great, if sad, film and two great tracks from it too

Streets of Philadelphia - Bruce Springsteen

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4z2DtNW79sQ

Philadelphia - Neil Young

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHpQFF_Et4s
I've been thinking for a while now that it is time for me to watch it again.

Streets of Philadelphia by Bruce Springsteen is one of the 20 songs I definitely bring with me on my island vacation. Philadelphia by Neil Young in not that shabby either.

And suddenly I am reminded of Frankie Goes To Hollywood.

Please refrain from any discussions in this thread except about music.

Took my eldest little warspite (not so little anymore) to see the American "Punk/Pop" band All Time Low at the Brixton Academy. To be honest - the music was not as bad as I thought it was going to be, and at least there was one song I knew [;)]:

With all that talk of wayward teens on the other thread - here's a couple of beautiful songs from Ms Cyrus and Ms Gomez

I'll Always Remember You

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=so27YdJW72c

The Ghost of You

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVyhXpPQuFA

Robert, They both have good voices but they waste them using that chipmunk yodeling voice. [:(]

@Warspite1,

"All Time Low" has long been a big favorite of my granddaughter. I find I generally can exchange musical choices with her, and I respect her taste.

Patrick I could not understand your post, so thought I would listen to the songs again. Sure enough, having replayed Ghost of You, I still do not understand to be honest. IMO Selena Gomez sings this beautiful song beautifully - and yes she has a "soft, girlie voice", but I would not say its "chipmunky".

I then listened to the Hannah Montana song on the You Tube clip I posted - and you are right - I was shocked at just how Chipmunky it was! I played the version on my Ipod and it is not anything like the You Tube version - Cyrus has a deeper voice than Gomez and the version I have confirms that. I wonder why the You Tube version is, as you say, seemingly being played at faster "Chipmunk" speed? Weird....

There were quite a few teenage girls at the concert - and quite a few Mums and Dads on "escort duty" (Brixton, the concert venue, is not the nicest part of the world and the audience was very far from being teenagers only).

The choice of language from the band was, perhaps as to be expected from a "Punk Pop" group containing four young guys, although their choice of stage conversation was not something I really needed to hear, sitting, as I was, next to my daughter [:-] Suffice to say I would not repeat it here on a family forum! [X(]

I just have to remind myself, that this was nothing I did not hear at school as a teenager so shouldn't get too uptight about it [:)] Just got to bring my little cruisers up as best I can, guide them accordingly, and then hope for the best - I can't shield them from real life as they grow up - although as a dad I really want to [:D]

I never tire of listening to Mark Knopfler (or Dire Straits). Sultans of Swing still rule.
