In the south the Soviets can't keep up with the retreating Axis forces and so can't keep them off balance. Forces are pushed north toward Zhitomir and Kiev in the hope that there will be a gap in the line...

To the north the problem is less about keeping up, but being able to hurt the Axis the Soviets have been able to engage. But there is a bend in the line northeast of Kaunas that the Soviets hope to exploit.

I had to look up "palaver". Not only are your AARs interesting, but they enrich my vocabulary. :) Thanks for keeping this up with you game in such great detail!

Sadly the appalling weather makes this something of a nothing turn. The Western Allies run out of room and so decide to declare war on Vichy to try and widen the front and allow my units to head east.

There was little to report in the east either. I continue to try and put pressure on Lwow in an effort to force the Romanians to retreat.

I would dearly love to get to Warsaw in the few turns remaining but that looks a tall order.

Nothing to report in Japan as the weather stopped any meaningful action. However, the Japanese have been kicked out of China, and Hong Kong was liberated.

Vichy France is was also liberated - huzzah!

I am so angry at myself for that rubbish 1943...ahem... landing in France. I've just not been able to recover from that in time.

This turn the rain continues in England meaning that the Germans defending Paris and environs get a break with time almost out.

The Allies push up, almost to the Italian border, where there are plenty of units to block their path.

The Soviets push forward south of the Pripyat Marshes, but there is little that can be achieved of note and the Germans place a sacrificial cavalry unit in the way to hinder progress.

To the north the Soviets make some in-roads, although air power will easily repulse these.

Hiroshima is taken. Note that post this picture I used my carrier aircraft to dispose of the weak corps to the right of the army. Japanese National Morale is 11%. I also landed the French infantry to try and stop the Japanese from linking up with each other.

Aircraft can fly once more and the Allies take Paris (although is vulnerable to counter-attack) and continue to push at the margins, north and south of the French capital.
