Army Group A Turn 59

AGA orders are to cover the Northern flank of The Caucasus drive and to keep the Rostov gap guarded.

The oil fields have become the key objective, Stalingrad will be captured later.

AGN Turn 60

This is going to be my final stop line here in the North, my rail lines are so far behind that by the time I catch them up it will be on or around turn 68 which should be the end.

AGS Turn 60

Here to my rail conversion is far behind, Tambov has been captured and the pocket destroyed.

So I will now focus on clearing Russian units away from my lines and straightening it.

Also need to rest all those units at Moscow.

So basically I will go on the defensive,

6th Armee destroys the pocket while 17th pushes enemy units back.

The Red Army did launch some counterattacks but these were held, the fight seems to have gone out of them.

Army group B Turn 60

Cleared most of the pocket that I trapped and pushed out a few hexes.

Noticed the last two turns the Italians are not getting much supply even from sea transport via captured ports.

So I will stop the drive there and get the rail conversion moving.

Red Army casualties again were big particularly since the Russian 16th Army surrendered at North Moscow.

Also broke the 9 million mark overall.

RE: My First AAR - Russia 41 ( Final German Positions / Sudden Death Check )

Post by tm1 »

I got to turn 60 knowing that by turn 68 I would win and the AI would not some how turn this game around in that time.

And being its just really a game against the AI I didn't want people to look at the same repetitive screens shots of me driving the Red Army across the map for 8 turns there are better AAR games to look at.

So I spent the last 8 turns refining and practising what I have learnt about this latest game for future ones.

For those who dropped in to view the game thanks I now AI matches once you get the better of it can be monotonously boring after a while.

Thanks to those chipped in a word or two and for those who had some advice, with special thanks to @carlkay58 and @ loki100 for there help and ideas on depots.

With the new patch out and a new campaign I look forward to conquering even more of Russia.

Now to the final screen shot.

AGN Turn 68

Here I just simply dug in and drove the Russians back every time they came close, I needed to wait till my rail lines caught up.

My next game will be to try to reach Arkhangelsk, but with no Finnish theatre in the game once you past Lodeynoe pole there is very little rail.

This will be a real challenge for Army Group North.

AGC Turn 68

Since the Red Army had lost its will to fight I did a series of encirclement's to destroy as much as i could and straightened the line.

I put a lot of troops in reserve and sent a few to other theatres.

Army Group A Turn 68

Here to just clean up operations and inflicting as much damage as I could.

Had I another year of game I think I could have taken Stalingrad, next time.

Army Group B turn 68

Went a different path here, decided to give The Italians the lime light and had them conquer the black Sea coast.

Found out that none of the Ports received and naval supply at all, I did get some rail down there to two ports just as the game ended.

Losses Turn 68

Well the AI took a beating over 9.6 million losses including 5.6 million in prisoners.

It will be interesting to see the figures if I capture the Caucasus next game.

Victory Turn 68

Well after the first 3 failed attempts I am pleased even if its against the AI.

A victory in the summer of 1942, even playing WITE1 I don't recall a 42 win.

Well that is it time to hit the manual again as I still have a lot to learn, then get prepared for the next challenge.
