I see numerous references to Mk16 CWIS in the database, mostly with respect to AN/VPS-2 and Phalanx associated systems. Also, many ships in the database have variants named "No CWIS" or "CWIS reinstalled".

Are these all typos? Shouldn't it be CIWS (Close-In Weapons System). I'm a bit of a noob to the game so forgive me if I'm wrong...

This might be because CIWS is pronounced "see-whiz" by many, so CWIS is the most logical way to type it out. I know I've made this mistake more than one time as well.

The H-6G Badger [H-6M] 'OECM Pods' loadout equips the planes with 'KG-600 DECM' pods.

---

The J-10A 'LT-2 LGB [500kg HE, Twin-Hardpoint, PL-12, PL-8B, Heavy' loadout equips the planes with PL-10 missiles.

---

The JH-7A Flounder 'YJ-91 / AS-17 Krypton C [Kh-31p, ARM], Heavy' loadout doesn't include any YJ-91s.

---

Similarly, the J-11BH Flanker B 'YJ-91/AS-17 Krypton C [Kh-31P, ARM], DECM Pods, Long-Range' doesn't include any YJ-91s. Am I misunderstanding something about the YJ-91s?

--

The J-11BH Flanker B 'A/A:PL-12, DECM Pods, Standard CAP' loadout doesn't include any DECM pods.

---

I'm not sure whether these are deliberate, a typo, or the wrong equipment assigned, but it seemed confusing so I thought I'd mention them...

I keep editing and adding to this list - there seem to be quite a few. I'm beginning to suspect I'm misunderstanding something. Is this list any use or am I wasting my time?

#2869 - CY-3 (Yu-7) -> Yu-8

I was thinking how many ASROCs should be enough for a frigate? Typically it's 8 per ship, and optimistically hunt 4 submarines at max.

I have one or two suggestions, which I think might be useful for the ever-popular WWIII/Cold War gone hot scenario.

Firstly, I noticed that the USS Lexington (CV-16) isn't in the DB3000. While obviously it was only a training carrier by 1980, it does have the distinction of being the longest-serving Essex-class carrier, serving up until 1991. Perhaps in a particularly desperate scenario, it could be used as a stopgap measure. Perhaps taking a cue from the British and flying Marine Corps Harriers as a makeshift air wing...

Secondly, as hypotheticals, the two Audacious-class carriers, Eagle and Ark Royal could potentially be carried over from the CWDB. The Ark Royal, at least, was decommissioned in 1979, right at the cutoff point, so perhaps it could also but justified as being rushed back into service, should a need be identified. The Eagle would be harder to justify, but could be explained by a different policy when it comes to fixed-wing aviation.

One could also consider adding the Yu-11 torpdeo both as payload for the Yu-8 ASROC and replace the Yu-7s onboard the PLAN surface combattants, as well as ASW aircrafts/helos - after all, it is already in service since 2015, with video evidence existing:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yu-7_torpedo
Yu-11[edit]

Yu-11 is the follow on of Yu-7 powered by the same Otto fuel II and developed by the same 705th Institute.[2] Development first begun in 2002 and the torpedo finally entered service more than a decade later in 2015,[3] with its existence revealed by CCTV-7 in the same year when the TV station ran a footage of Chinese naval war games in July 2015, showing a new light weight torpedo (LWT) launched from a surface warship.[2] The new Chinese LWT is obviously longer than its predecessor Yu-7 and many Chinese military enthusiasts have postulated that the extended section houses additional fuel to increase the speed and range, but some western analysts such as Jane's Information Group have also postulated that the extended section might house homing and data processing subsystems.[4]

The most significant improvement of Yu-11 over its predecessor Yu-7 is in the propulsion system, with steam generated propels the torpedo in a closed Rankine cycle,[2] thus enabling Yu-11 to have greater operating depth, rumored to be over six hundred meters. The contra-rotating propellers of Yu-7 is replaced by a pump-jet,[2][4] making China the fourth nation in the world to master the technology of adopting pump-jet for torpedoes.[2] Another benefit of adopting pump-jet is the significant reduction of noise radiated by the torpedo, thus greatly increasing the difficulty to detect the approaching torpedo.[4] Specification:[2]

Speed: 50 kt max
Range: 11 km @50 kt, 30 km @26 kt
Diameter: 324 mm

These are before 80s, maybe you should ask that in CWDB thread?

When there is time, I hope that Finnish coast guard aircraft and navy units get some more love:

And hopefully new Jurmo-class landing craft Wiki-link can be found (can't post links)

and older Jehu-class landing craft

The most important aircraft missing is coastal guar Dornier patrol craft

Do-228 Dornier (coast guard)
Two-motor survellaince
Crew: 3-4
Passengers: max 4
Max take-off weight: 6 575 kg
Speed: 360 km/h
Range: 1 250 km

Kit: MSS 6000 surveillance kit (360 surface radar, SLAR, IR/UV sensor, high resolution camera, radio-direction finder)
System is pretty much state-of-the-art and based on Swedish design.

"The MSS 5000 and 6000 systems have been installed for coast guard organisations on several different aircraft types and in countries around the world, e.g. in Sweden, Norway, Estonia, Poland, Portugal, Greece, USA and Canada. The system uses state-of-the art technology and is designed to be an integral part of todays multi-faceted maritime surveillance mission. Facts The MSS 6000 for the Finnish Border Guard is a fully integrated system including SLAR (Side-Looking Airborne Radar), IR/UV (Infrared/ Ultraviolet) scanner, still and video cameras, AIS (Automatic Identification System), and a high-speed satellite data link. Existing FLIR and search radar will also be partially integrated. Information from the sensors will be displayed in real time and is tightly integrated with a tactical map. The map image has a large number of operator selectable overlays for back- ground information to support the mission. The map gives an up-to-date situation overview by providing the operator with time stamped information such as a plot of the flight track, continuously updated AIS information, observation and target notes, notes on location of captured images from cameras as well as geocorrected overlays from SLAR and IR/UV. All information from the mission is saved and can be compiled in mission reports and sent via the satellite data link to a command center and/or to cooperating units. "

They're already in the CWDB, I'm suggesting that they could be carried forward into the DB3000 (on historical grounds for the Lexington, and hypothetical grounds for the Audacious-class).

Can we update the radar for future versions of the MQ-8C Fire Scout (#4031) please?

The US Navy has confirmed Leonardo's award of the contract after Telephonics legal objection (supplier of the ZPY-4 for the MQ-8B model).

The award is for a 2-panel version of the Osprey MM/30 radar, to be designated the ZPY-8.

AN/ZPY-8 Osprey MM/30

AESA
240 degree coverage (2-panel version)
Sea, Land and Air surveillance
Derivative of the Sea Spray family (7400E, database #5176)
Combines Vixen 1000E (ES-05 Raven fighter/interceptor derivative, database #5074) and PicoSAR (battlefield surveillance radar) algorithms.

A 3-panel version (360 degree coverage) is being fitted to Norwegian SAR helicopters and a 1-panel (120 degree) version was fitted as a demonstration to an SW-4 optionally-manned helicopter during the Unmanned Warrior 2016 exercise. A 4-panel (also 360 degree coverage) version is offered for fixed-wing aircraft.

I have a few request:

1) Adding the Patroller UAV, IOC 2020 in the French Army, 14x

characteristics:
speed: 55-110kt
ceiling: 20 000 ft
endurance: 20h

sensors: new Euroflir 410 FLIR, with laser designator

loadouts (from manufacturer pdf):
long endurance: with 2 external fuel tanks
land surveillance: 1 external tank + (GMTI/SAR radar or ELINT/COMINT payload)
Maritime surveillance: 1 external tank + maritime radar (search & SAR) pod
Complete: maritime radar pod + ELINT pod

Manufacturer site:
https://www.safran-electronics-defense. ... er-systems
https://www.safran-electronics-defense. ... r-rpas.pdf
sensor:
https://www.safran-electronics-defense. ... ir_410.pdf
sensor pods at the 2017 Paris Air show:
https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4260/348 ... d020_b.jpg

2) RCS adjustments
Currently the two stealth UCAV in the database (the MQ-25 and the Neuron) have a RCS equal or larger to the F-22. Since they have a planform optimized for stealth, are more than 20 years more recent and are supposed to go where current fighter can't, they should have much smaller RCS. I propose to reduce their RCS by 10 dB, which will reduce the detection ranges by 40% and give them the tactical advantage they are supposed to have.
Also the F-35 has the same RCS from the front and from behind in the DB. It should have a much larger RCS from behind since the engine is visible.

One more request, if possible:

People's Liberation Army Special Operations Forces

Finally, it seems the Chinese Spec-ops he's looking for is actually from a Chinese military movie teaser named Operation Red Sea - a 500 millions RMB megaproject to be produced in Morocco.

They were called "Jiaolong Assault Team" or JAT, the SWAT-black looking Chinese spec-ops. They are belongs to PLAN and they are usually be seen onboard frigates and destroyers. They were revealed in 2009 at Gulf of Aden:

http://media.gettyimages.com/photos/the ... id89054666 (click to see image)

Not sure if these troops will be used as covert operations IRL, but from official reports sited these guys are trained even tougher than Navy SEAL, they take drowning practices like breakfasts.

I will see for more info out of them. From a movie however could be a bad idea though.
