With radar signature masking implemented in game, the smaller vessels like missile boats, submarines and corvettes can use large merchant vessels as covers. Not just the armed merchants are lethal enough for preemptive attack, but also draw opponent's attentions away from proper vessel threats.

Imagine a civilian Ro-Ro suddenly roll outs a lots of speedboats armed with SSMs and kamikaze bombs, it will be a nightmare to the enemy frontline. Worse, even if they try to sink the Ro-Ro, that will only just waste some missiles at it, and gave warships behind it more survivability.

In fact in origin Super Frelon is also three-engined!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A%C3%A9ro ... per_Frelon

Wikipedia quote:
"Design

Load deck of a Super Frelon
The Aérospatiale SA 321 Super Frelon is a large, heavy-lift single-rotor helicopter, furnished with a relatively atypical three-engine configuration; these are Turboméca Turmo IIIC turboshaft engines set on top of the fuselage, a pair of turbines positioned side-by-side at the front and one located aft of the main rotor".

Oh snap. I forgot about this. Yeah, what is meant to say is that the Z-8L must have been equipped with a lot stronger engines than its original counterpart. It is not an unsignificant weight increase. Not least due to the apparent RWR and anti-MANPAD countermeasures equipped.

Pic: PLA watchers see some similiarities in the layout of the AN/AAQ-24 of US helicopters and the devices onboard the Z-8L

The only problem is what kind of turboshafts are installed in the Z-8L? I doubt it will be enough for WZ-6C, given by the extra size (and potentially loadout tonnage) is needed with a widen fuselage. Possibly the same turboshaft engines from Z-20 perhaps?

U.S. Army asks Congress to let it buy 2 Iron Dome Systems from Israel....YES PLEASE!!!!
A good choice since the U.S. helped fund the system, plus a large part of it is built in the U.S.

New novel - "The String of Pearls Strategy" available from Amazon.
The Chinese cleverly manoeuvre themselves into a position to gain a foothold on the major supplier of resources in the southern hemisphere - Australia. Can the Americans help their ally in time?
I think CMANO fans will enjoy this, plenty of air and naval action, lots of ideas for scenarios.
Chinese Flankers, F-35's, J-20's, F-22's, H-6's and more, and of course lots of naval units, and did I mention nukes?

Depressing to say both sinophobia and Tom-Clancism didn't die, and worsen in recent days -- more and more people in the west want to destroy China ASAP, and global disruption like Anti-OBOR and Anti-Huawei get the best of them.

But let's not judge the political climate, if Australia wants war, I will go check that book to see how they wins.

pathologizing people who have a different opinion than you on something is very rude.

I agree, let's hope the book has some sensible ways to describe China threat.

DARPA is looking to stop (at least some) incoming hypersonics.

Drones come in many kind... well, more like a kind than a many.

Another Reaper profile of UCAV conducted a maiden flight in China called Feilong-1, the third company try to imitate the successful airframe from CH-4 and WL-1:

If thinktanks are very certain the capabilities of DF-21D before, why the new analysis didn't say DF-26 is also capable to attack surface vessels? Instead, FAS only boasted it's threat vector against nearby countries by it's locations.

Worse, China is not a signator (and is totally not responsible) of INF, however, the article empathize the US's decision to eject INF as if it's China's fault.
