Question to the forum. I just received Army Group A + B on T55. Anything special I should do? For example should I just leave the Romanians, Hungarians and Italians under OKH? List is in Army Group B and Halder in Army Group A. Both have horrible political ratings. Is it important to change leaders?
I am very much a "little fish"in this pond, so you may or may not want to follow my practice. I leave some of the Rumanians on garrison or anti-partisan duty under AG Antonescu. A few Hungarians and Italians similarly under OKH. For the bulk of the allied units which are at or near the front line fighting, IMHO it's important to put them under German command -- that is AG A or B -- so that they have a decent chance to put up a fair fight. Once you have all four army groups you should have enough room for many of the Axis allied units along with the Germans; in the worst case, a very modest overload shouldn't hurt much.
As for the leaders, I don't think it makes sense to change them just for the political rating -- if anything, e-Hitler is likely to do that for you whether you like it or not.
Now I'm anxious to read how the more experienced Axis players handle this.
Hi Osh, little fish #2 says, doesn't matter too much, only real benefit is to get AGS under the CP cap by putting stuff in A and B. Admin rating is mostly important in the army groups, the corps and army ldrs are good enough such that die rolls rarely go to army group level. How the heck did Halder get out of OKH?
Little fish #3 agrees with fish #1 and says:
With Army groups at 108 CPs starting 4/42, you should be able to have all your frontline units in 4 Army Groups:
Move the RHGs to OKH
Allied units used as garrison can be placed under their own High Command (Antonescu, Hun HC,..)
If you haven't moved anything into AGN yet, it has enough spare CPs to include an additional Army
It's pretty expensive in APs, but in 1942 I don't think you need too many APs for other things, so you can use them to have a "perfect" setup
Thanks little fish #1, #2, and #3 for the comments. Little fish #4 (me) will probably leave the Romanians under OKH because they will not be doing much fighting. The garrison units are already under Antonescu.
Leaders in the higher Army Group HQs are indeed not that important. I will not waste any APs.
Rzhev is encircled and I continue to push back his line. This is great for building up morale. II Corps was badly beaten during blizzard and is slowly recovering.
Most of the fighting takes place in the south. I Corps is an awesome fighting force. I have set up three main Panzer thrusts. One Panzer Corps crosses west of Rostov and another Panzer Corps east of Rostov. The main Panzer thrust is in the Boguchar sector.
Guard Rifle Corps are appearing!!! Argh, I will need to quickly hunt them down. For now I am creating another small pocket east of Voroshilovgrad. Further south my plan is to encircle Rostov so that I can finally get Army Group A and B.
