Clotoa is where the Hegemony government constructed the Bio-Engineering Facility before the Empire came into being. Taken by the Naxx during the last war, by this time it is now in danger of being taken from the Naxx by the Core- precipitating an incredibly sensitive crisis, as STRATCOM had decided that it was completely unacceptable for Clotoa to fall into Core Axis hands. The reasoning behind this was that should the Core Axis begin to take too many Imperial worlds captured by the Naxx previously then a multi-front war would be inescapable. All the same, recovering the Bio-Engineering Facility had been given the highest priority and if that meant fighting the Core at the same time as the Naxx, STRATCOM was resigned to that.

In this view, with Imperial preparations not completed but considered to be progressed enough to begin the next attack against the Core Axis, 1 Assault Fleet is seen standing by to invade the Clotoa colony. Not seen are 2 and 3 Strikeforce in the system, preparing to blockade the Clotoa colony.

1 Assault Fleet began to land troops on Clotoa when the battle appeared to be over and the Naxx appeared to be on the verge of winning. This triggered the Naxx declaration of war.

A mystery has been solved. In this battle I did to the Naxx what they had done to me in the earlier battle of DAidalun. The introduction of third-party forces just before the end of a battle seems to result in the latest arrival taking the planet.
