That will surely cause some soldiers to march to death. Not to speak of the huge tank and truck attrition caused by units on an endless journey.

On the plus side, Soviet physicians are working hard to find a shortcut to Berlin. Project name wormhole, though the final name will be for sure something more glorious:

Alas! The nefarious Felix Klein is a step ahead of you. His devilish contraption will route the pick of the soviet army to Siberia (just like Stalin did before the war).

Amazed to find out the Klein bottle is no longer a mathematical construct - one glass wear maker actually made one. Just need to work out how to pour it!

I guess you know of those toplogical maps where distances are altered as an example one for Europe where places connected by fast train lines are shown closer together ...

Well I wanted to do the same with the WitE map based on MP distances. You can get from Poland to Dnepropetrovsk directly just on clear hexes and not crossing rivers for example so that axis on the map would be squashed. My graphics skills are not up to it right now - but I think if done it would make it obvious why certain corridors repeatedly get used for advances.

Unfair - Homer Simpson coped well with non-Euclidean geometry

Please we have standards in this thread now. The correct term is "Torus!"

A new semi-official team member on the Soviet-side
When looking over my shoulder while I played WitE, my little brother asked if he too could get a command in the team game. Now, a classical rank within the military requires each commander to go through a long process of promotions, but in some new branches, later known as special forces, things go quicker and with less beaurocracy. So he became appointed commander of a group of partisan battalions in the rear of army group Center, which is directly opposed to the Western Direction.
Here you can view his current appointment and the leader image, he obviously isn't too experienced in commanding ground forces but good at motivating people to blow up rails and depots. The leader image shows him inspecting rail lines in a valley, unsurprisingly, some information had to be censored.

Overview of the Soviet team structure during the blizzard
This chart [1] shows the organisation of the Soviet 8MP team during the blizzard. M60ATTS represents multiple roles within the hierarchy.

[1] The field of charts and diagrams must not become a domain of fascist war press, therefore the Soviet AAR was in dire need of one.

Admin 9? He must be good with paperwork.
He could get sent to Siberia with a political rating of 2.

In the context of a partisan leader, that means he is good at organising distribution of explosive charges, keeping track of all the agent's cover names and the Axis railway routes.
The political rating can be explained by the fact that he is a kind of protege of me, if I fall in disgrace, he will most likely do so as well.

I used paint here, if the Soviet side wants to remain competitive, it might need gear up with some better software.

From what I know Telemecus is quite used giving presentations so our collectives need to work hard to keep up with that.

I used to make 100+ slide decks that reduced grown men to tears [:D]

Stef78 and Crackaces recommended picpick (free) which has opened a lot of new possibilities for me. Although I am starting to discover a few tricks in paint that picpick cannot emulate.
