Burma: Over the past ten days, I've watched as Dave sent much of his known-schwerpunkt far into Burma, chasing the retreating, rag-tag Allied army. I felt like there was a chance his main bases (Moulmein, Rangoon) might be lightly defended. He has no sea lane open, so supply is probably a bit of an issue. Therefore, about 15 days ago, I began preliminary plans for an invasion - the main thing being to get as many xAPs and ground units to Madras as possible. Everything continued to look good, so I pressed the trigger.
There's no doubt this caught him by surprise. He's recalled a lot of his units from Upper Burma.
But I may end up regretting this, as DS is not particularly strong. There's a real chance the Allies could take their lumps from enemy LBA.
But if this succeeds it complicates Dave's situation enormously. He'll need KB to restore order, and I'm pretty sure it's en route to SoPac. Burma will become a nightmare for him. And the Allies could possibly re-open the Burma Road.
So I feel like trying this is worth the risk.
