Hi
Trying to follow suite with regards to your placement of depots to try get my supply back in the green but seem to be getting it wrong I even basically copied some of your screen shots, hope you don't mind.
I just don't get it, are all your depots you put on the map level 4 or are the depots closest to the front level 4 only.
I am in good position here in my game to get past the first year but my supply losses are killing my chances.
At the start of the turn I turn on depots ('n' key) and the supply lines ('8' key) to give the red lines. Any depot that traces a line to a front line unit is set to priority 4. Any depot that traces a line to a rear unit or airbase is set to 3. If an airbase is in the same hex it is set to 3. Any pre-war depot is set to 1. Any post war depot is set to 2.
I then handle the large railyard depots differently. These typically include Warsaw, Minsk, Smolensk, Kiev, Dneprotovsk, etc. If the depot has > 40K freight (depending on which one we are talking about) then I set it to 1 to push the freight eastwards. If it is < 5K freight I set it to priority 4 to fill back up again. This will cause the eastward depots to draw it down without having to pull freight from further west and put more strain on the rail net. This is the 'pulse' techniques that has been brought up in several places.
The Soviets stubbornly remain over 3.2M. I am losing the battle this time. Axis aircraft is keeping fairly steady at 2.6K and Soviet AFVs are down to 4.8K.
The AI Air Assist has been able to keep the 4:1 loss ratio pretty steady. But 201 air combat losses are probably my fault as I have not been toggling the Ground Support button on and off.
The lone Soviet attack is bombing Gomel. The Soviets have been fairly passive this game with few ground attacks. This may be part of why I am having problems pocketing enough to keep the losses up. Or it could be that I suck.
That last lunge from the 2nd and 3rd PGs made some long distances to truck the supplies from. I also moved up the new panzer divisions to Pskov (well one of them the other and the HQ are further away) so the rail lines were heavily used last turn.
The supply lines here are just as long as the north. This is the reason that the freight picture was bad. I am outstripping the supply capacity because I used a lot of supplies last turn on my offensives.
Luftflotte 1 is having problems flying Recon directives - only two of the four actually flew this turn. The weather is raining so that may be the problem.
I start with the 11th Army this turn along with the XIV Mot Corps to start forcing my way into the Crimea and into the Dnepr River bend. The attack reaches Armyansk at the very western edge of the Crimea entrance.
