Second Jap sub attacked

[font="Times New Roman"]A second enemy submarine was attacked nearby later in the day. It is believed this boat was hit at least once, but there was no word regarding casualties.[/font]

Koepang reoccupied

[font="Times New Roman"]The port of Koepang on Timor Island was stormed yesterday by Australian troops.

"There was no resistance," said a military official in Darwin. "The Nippers bugged out a long time ago. We knew that, of course, so this was just a case of moving back into an old home."[/font]

Rabaul hammered

[font="Times New Roman"]The port of Rabaul was struck hard again yesterday by 5th Air Force B-17s out of Port Moresby.

"We might be about ready to wrap this phase of the operation up," said the liaison officer. "The plan now is for our medium bombers flying out of Kiriwina to finish the job of reducing the enemy at Rabaul, while we keep him isolated at the same time."[/font]

Bombers sink minesweeper at Rabaul

A flight of B-25s patrolling out of Kiriwina sank a Japanese minesweeper in Simpson Harbor at Rabaul yesterday.[/font]

Jap troop barges sunk near Koepang

Barges full of Japanese troops were engaged off Timor Island by PT-boats and the Dutch destroyer Van Nes yesterday.[/font]

Koepang shows its new muscle

United States Navy dive bombers operating out of the newly-reoccupied port of Koepang reached out yesterday and struck hard at a Japanese convoy headed for the port of Waingapu, 150 miles to the northwest on Sumba Island. At least one enemy troop ship was damaged severely, and a patrol craft was known to have been sunk.[/font]

Jap transport torpedoed

A British Albacore torpedo bomber operating out of Koepang struck a Japanese troop transport 50 miles southeast of the port of Waingapu on Sumba Island. There was no word on the condition of the enemy ship.[/font]

USN raid on Waingapu

[font="Times New Roman"]In the early hours of the morning, an American task group of warships ran into Waingapu harbor and registered a number of hits on enemy shipping. Known to be sunk in this action was an auxiliary vessel and the troop transport Fukko Maru.[/font]
