Ya know, I'm watching "A Bridge Too Far" for the nth time, and I just realized that Elliot Gould is playing the commander of the 506th Para Regiment - based upon Colonel Robert Sink. (The very same character as played by Dale Dye in "Band of Brothers").

How did I never notice that before?!

Slightly different characterizations.

Lots of good stuff at the moment - both new and repeats.

Auschwitz, The Nazis and the Final Solution Six-part series, superbly narrated by Samuel West. This whole story always has the power to shock. If you've never seen this and have the chance, I thoroughly recommend it.

Very comprehensive documentary about a legendary wargame UFO: Enemy Unknown, its sequels, prequels (Laser Squad etc.), remakes, and derivatives. Including UFO: Extraterrestrials, but missed UFO: Alien Invasion.

You know what they say, don't you? About how us MechWarriors are the modern knights, how warfare has become civilized now that we have to abide by conventions and rules of war. Don't believe it.

Im Westen nichts Neues (All Quiet on the Western Front). Watched the german Netflix release (with subtitles). Had seen the 1930 and 1979 version. Good remake and highly recommend this film.

SAS Rogue Warriors (BBC iplayer). There is a new BBC drama series about the Special Air Service (SAS) just started and, to go with that, BBC4 have recently shown an incredible 3-part series on the true story of the regiment's founding and WWII exploits. This contains interviews (from 1987) of many of the original soldiers - including its founder, David Stirling.

Thoroughly recommended.

Series 5 of The Handmaid's Tale. This has always been watchable, but sometimes appears to lose its way. This latest series marks a shift in gear and is much better because of it. Watching the pious, superior Serena get a taste of her own medicine is delicious to watch.... yet somehow Yvonne Strahovski mananges to turn her into almost a sympathetic character!!

The video doesn't show up here. But if you are referring to Sisu, I do understand the term.

Operation Petticoat.

"QUOTES:
01) Lt. Cmdr. Matt T. Sherman: You see, when a girl is under 21, she's protected by law. When she's over 65, she's protected by nature. Anywhere in between, she's fair game! Look out!
02) Chief Mechanic's Mate Sam Tostin: A woman just shouldn't mess around with a man's machinery.
03) Fox: [the collision alarm goes off] Collision, sir! Collision! Collision! Lt. Cmdr. Matt T. Sherman: Whoa, whoa, whoa. We're not even moving!
04) Lt. Nicholas Holden:[finding water all over the floor]: Excuse me, sir, is this normal, or should I be nervous again?"

Strictly Come Dancing final (BBC1)

Well done Hamza and Jovita - they weren't the best in the final, but over the series they were worthy winners. To be honest I think any of the four couples could have won it.

The Battle of the Little Bighorn, known to the Native Americans Lakota Sioux as the Battle of the Greasy Grass and also known as Custer's Last Stand was a battle fought in 1876 between combined forces of the Lakota Sioux, Northern Cheyenne, and Arapaho tribes and the 7th Cavalry Regiment of the United States Army led by George Custer.
It’s the most significant battle of the Great Sioux War of 1876. In this short animated documentary, we’ll show you how the two sides fought. The Native Americans were led by chiefs Crazy Horse and Sitting Bull while the US Army was led by Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong Custer.
The Battle of the Little Bighorn is perhaps the most famous battle when it comes to Native American history.
