More absolute quality from PBS America. The Long Road to War. A two-part documentary on the lead up to WWI, but focused almost entirely on the Balkan role in the build up and Austria's relations with Serbia (and Bosnia).

Well worth a look if you are interested in this period of time and The Great War.

In my quest for re-watching old films I watched It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, and Goodfellas.

Two decent flicks. Although not great, in my humble opinion.

I appreciate that Goodfellas follow the historical events that the film is based upon fairly well. And it is that historical basis that makes it somewhat interesting. Without it, the film would hold no appeal to me.

I thought that the Mad World had some good stunts in it considering that it is an 60's film and a comedy. And a few laughs.

The It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World is always a good film to watch if you are feeling a little depressed.

For All Saint's Eve (or the afternoon instead) I have to find my disc of The Rocky Horror Picture Show and either have pizza or seasoned popcorn with it.

Sadly, was cancelled.

Perfect movie to watch with my Lady.
Double-score.

I'm looking forward to the new Napoleon movie that is due out later this week.

From the interview with Ridley Scott, it sounds like it is going to be an epic.

Napoleon doesn't get much love with the American audience.
Dude was overrated.
Some bloody battles.
Agree, wouldn't mind seeing this in theater.
Better than the Taylor Swift Eras or Priscilla current offerings.
For the record, Napoleon Dynamite was overrated movie.
Don't see how it was funny.

Rise of the Nazis (Season 4 - The Manhunt) BBC iPlayer

Started watching series 4 of this absolutely wonderful series. This three part, fourth season looks at what happened now that the war is over and the war criminals are being hunted.

If you are interested in World War II then I thoroughly recommend this. It features serious historians - who take a character each and inject their expert input within the overall narration.

Michael Caine is great actor: Zulu, yes.
My favorite movie is "Eagle Has Landed", love that flick. (has Caine)

Watched Napoleon movie, with the depressed Johnny Cash actor, Joaquim Phoenix.
Movie was lame, well, the script writing was. Maybe the Hollywood Writers Union was on strike.
Told me nothing of Napoleon, except he was kitty whipped for his whorish woman.
Would have been nice to actually provide his motivation for wanted to war and kill ppl.

Just binge watched, season #1 of Fargo, love me some Billy Bob Thornton.

One Life

A beautiful, tear-jerker of a film. Tells the story of the incredible efforts of Nicholas Winton in trying to save as many children (mostly Jewish) from camps in pre-war Czechoslovakia. Anthony Hopkins and Helen Bonham Carter head the cast.

The stat at the end says a lot. There were 15,000 such children in refugee camps before the war, 200 survived the war. Winton and his helpers saved 669.....

Thoroughly recommended.

RIP to Chuck Mawhinney, deadliest Sniper in Marine History. 103 confirmed kills w/ 216 probables. "He saw Vietnam as the ultimate hunting ground", quiet young partier, raised hunter from Baker, Eastern Oregon. Reading his 2023 Biography, some real Rambo stuff. Got used paperback, that's all in stock. What makes the story interesting, his wife/friends had no idea of his accolades, until another marine mentioned Chuck, in his own book, years later. Wonder if he had religion, guess I need to start reading to find out.
