So any landing on an island triggers a shock attack?
It sure did here! :D :lol:

Heavy rains prevented the big dive bomber attack on the shipping at Kusaie....we had to flank run to get there....and whenever you do that it seems like a crapshoot if the planes will fly.

Oh well....we will have other opportunities I am sure.

China and Burma...

planes didn't fly in Burma...not sure if I will force a river crossing or delay near Magwe -- for the armor to reach the plains. Looks like Japan is shocking into Ramree (forts 1, now flying in elements of the 9th Indian Division). Still a large concentration of the IJN at Akyab.

A good day in ASW....two penetrating hits plus multiple other hits in the Nauru area...

Our troops in Nauru decide they have had enough, and re-embark on their transports but we still pummel the defenders with air and naval assets. Probably cost less than 110 VP in army losses (as that is the two day total and there were losses elsewhere too -- China). In the scheme of the war nothing to get excited over, as long as we can get away from the Iboats and any other area threats.

Any landing on:
An Atoll, no matter the size;
A size 1 or size 2 island.

If you move max distance at any speed, I think there is little in the way of ops points to do air operations ...

There is a table in the manual in the Appendix area. The flyout when you mouse over them will show them.

I moved 1-2 hexes less than max distance. Normally, I get a 50% afternoon launch (but always an afternoon launch against enemy CVs). It is a nice trick when fighting defensively against enemy fleet carriers and you have rigged your CV composition correctly.

Just some recent bombardments at Nauru Island....day, night, with escorts without, with the kitchen sink, etc...FOW is heavy in these reports I suspect...plus a 40mm runway hit isn't the same as a 14"...

Ships sunk over the last month and a half. The Kumano was hit by two mines....the Mark 10 which according to tracker is heavier than the IJN sub dropped Type 88s. She might not be down, but limping away from Kusaie.

Normally, this is the point where the Allies launch a deep paratroop invasion at lightly held Toungoo....aiming to cut off the rail line. But, our LRP brigades are fighting in China, and the 50th Indian Para Bde is at Ramree...

Whither should our troops in the Magwe plains go now....take Magwe? Slice SE and get surrounded but invest Meiktila? Move east and invest Manadalay? Wait a day or two for the armor spearhead to make more progress into the plains of Magwe?

I vote for taking Mandalay to start a trickle of supply along the road to China (I know, it won't be the 500 extra supply for having a clear Burma Road, but a trickle from Northern Burma is possible and every bit helps in China).
