Major Tom,

Take your time. As much as we like to grouse, you and the Matrix team have done a superb job to-date of polishing and fixing up this old classic.

Regarding deployments: I understand the reasons behind your decision to "forward deploy" Australian units to make up for the AI's inadequacies. But on balance, I'd prefer to see you revert to roughly historical deployments to make the game more fair in PBEM play. I think most players accept that the AI will never be especially brilliant. Just my two cents.

Regarding the whole armor/artillery production problem. Artillery production is still too high. Regardless of casualties, I've never seen the Japanese or Americans run short. Is it possible to be able to toggle the factory between armor and artillery? This way you only need one factory for your AFV/arty needs, you give the Japanese some capacity to produce replacement tanks -- but they have to trade off guns for tanks.

Thanks again for all your work!

Oddball: Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

The Allies were never really short on equipment, only the ability to deploy it quickly in the first few months. The Allies shouldn't really face equipment shortages, the Japanese on the other hand, probably should.

I might cut Japanese Artillery production by 4/5 just to test out your theory. At least for the 'beta' that will be released.

I still think that special PBEM and AI scenarios might be the answer. Since many people play PW against the AI, I thought that it might be better to have some 'challenging' scenarios for them, as well as a challenging PBEM scenario.

If there is no F6F factory when playing max help allied, CVs that arrive (earlier because of the max help) with F6F are without fighter cover until May 43 since AI doesn't downgrade.

When I conquered Seattle, Japanese got the benefits of heavy industry, artillery and ship yard production there. Kicking the allied divisions out to move on to SF would probably need another 10 divisions Image

AI moves the two closest armies to Nanning on the first turn (at least often, if not always), and if the combat doesn't happen, leaves a way to Saigon open for the Chinese armies. And as Japanese, taking over China took about a year. So it's better to just leave it computer controlled or just not touch it if you want it resembling historical.

Had some problems loading Japanese air groups to ships, it worked in some bases (Timor), but not in others (Mainland Japan, Saipan), was there a rule about this?

I fixed the F6F thing, it was a remnant from another upgrade that I used as the starting point for the OBC41. It had the USMC planes shifted around, resulting in some aircraft not getting spaces due to the introduction of the F8F in the original F6F space.

Not sure much can be done regarding the AI and China. Best to leave it alone as both the Allies and Axis if you want to have an interesting game.
