RE: Dark Side of the Moon
No point in saying DD hits mine and one DD Bettyed until we establish some sort of a big picture. And besides, there is not much happening at the moment except the naval blockade of Oz an PM, preparations for Darwin and the final insult in China. I didn't start this AAR, it was Raver, so he must have something running he wants to share. Pehaps he can enlighten us to the successes od his PM evacuation. Can you imagine, transfering troops from one trap to another. I see it as a temporary displacement of POWs from a small outlying camp to a bigger one where they can enjoy the benefits of strong oranization and better climatic conditions. It would be heartlees of me to allow a POW camp be built in a malarial cesspool we all love to call Port Moresby. Some players here really give a bad name to Jap treatment of POWs...
RE: Dark Side of the Moon
Raver, no intel on any of the eight divisions prepping for Sydney?
ORIGINAL: Honda
I had 8 divs preping for Sydney since January.

That reminds me of DEI, and Malaya. Just change the name to Batavia or Soerabaja

Not that I can recall, but I was so hard pushed that reading the intel was not high on my list of "Things to Do".[:o]ORIGINAL: Mark VII

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 07/08/42
Not much happening at this point in the war. Actualy there is, but no boom-boom stuff.
But here's some ASW action near Sydney:
ASW attack at 40,125
Japanese Ships
PC Ch 17
PC Ch 14
PC Takuna Maru #7
PG Eiko Maru
PG Eifuku Maru
DD Mikazuki
Allied Ships
SS Spearfish, hits 2, heavy damage
And, of course, I should mention there is some stiffening resistance in the skys above Melbourne:
Day Air attack on Melbourne , at 28,125
Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 24
Ki-46-II Dinah x 1
Allied aircraft
Kittyhawk I x 1
No Japanese losses
No Allied losses
Good thing my bombers were weathered down in the morning phase...[8D]
And it seems Raver is abandoning Delhi. Funny, didn't even sneeze in that direction...

They are retreating towards Yunan. I have an opportunity to connect China and Burma theatres if I capture Yunan. Will have to weigh this decision against opting to destroy a huge Chinese army in my hinterland. Raver? [:D]
Oh, and it seems the evac of PM has stopped. Seems Raver has pulled out enough forces. My recon suggest almost up to 50% of the initial number. But recon has been wrong before on such short noticese. A week's recon will give a more precise number then a day's.

Do whatever you wish in China........or at least you can try. There are still a LOT of Chiese troops running around.
Dehi is being given up as it is not able to be supported.....and most certainly not when Hero Honda has 25 units massing at Bombay....hmmm....wonder where they are going to be heading?

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 07/10/42
The blockade works:
Sub attack at 52,121
Japanese Ships
SS I-30
Allied Ships
AK Paul Luckenbach, Torpedo hits 2, on fire, heavy damage *sinks*
The lone transport (probably lone anyway) tried to run the gauntlet. I strongly recommend against that.
In Colombo, 29 Uk brigade arrived (reinforcements I guess) just in time to thwart my capturing the city just by paratroopers (some dropped ages ago, some are dropping in from a long treck over the mountains) so some additional troops will have to join in.
Citizens of Delhi rejoice. It's been a few days that they are free from colonial rule and Japanese forces are still far away. Love and peace rules the city and cows are safer then ever now the beefeaters have turned their tails and fled.
Ravers troops in China are moving towards Kweiyang. What will happen next? Stay tuned and find out...in about 3 months when they manage to get off the trails[:D]

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 07/11/42
Observing "PM express" on one or two occasions, I decided to put a suface TF in ambush on the hex 360 miles SW of PM where PM express stages its night run. After a 2 day wait, it arrived and the combat ensued during daytime:
Day Time Surface Combat at 50,97
Japanese Ships
CA Nachi, Shell hits 1
CA Ashigara, Shell hits 2
CA Kako
CL Nagara
CL Yura
CL Abukuma
DD Akigumo, Shell hits 2, on fire
DD Kazegumo
DD Kuroshio
DD Oyashio, Shell hits 1
DD Natsushio
Allied Ships
DD Sims, Shell hits 1, on fire
DD Russell
DD Walke
DD Craven, Shell hits 2
DD Gridley
DD Benham, Shell hits 2, on fire
DD Ellet
DD Fanning
DD Cushing, Torpedo hits 1, and is sunk
DD Perkins
DD Smith
DD Preston
DD Flusser
DD Clark
DD Humphreys
DD Sands
DD King
DD Lawrence
DMS Hopkins
DMS Long
Apart from that, 4 Bettys attacked too and sank a DMS.
The results of the battle are somewhat disapointing, but at least an intercept was achieved.
Akigumo will head for repairs although only minor damage was sutained. No need to press her into duty when situation is clearly under control.
AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 07/12/42
Despite yeserday's action, PM express went for the run on PM and this time 24 Bettys scrambled from Lae:
Day Air attack on TF at 51,96
Japanese aircraft

Allied Ships
DD Lawrence
DD Sands
DD Smith, Torpedo hits 2, on fire
DD Walke, Torpedo hits 2, on fire, heavy damage *sinks*

Troop casulties are conspicuously missing from the report above and there are only 2 explanations:
1. The ecav attampt failed
2. It was a supply run
Whatever the reason, aver keep doing it! We need some action somewhere! It might as well be here.
On Ceylon, defenders of Colombo bolstered ny a UK brigade tryed to dislodge Japanes paratroopers from their positions on the hills surrounding the city:

I really don't have to comment on this. My armored regiment has strayed too far and is now paying the price. Nonetheless, please do continue to pursue it towards Darwin. Well, speaking of the devil...

RE: Dark Side of the Moon
Boy, I held my breath as tse damned Beauforts attacked my BBs. Stupid move by me leaving them APless like that...
Another day of bombing Brisbane. However, weather keeps blocking KB from unleashing its full potential. Nonetheless, I'm destroying 50+ ac every day around Brisbane. There are many ships in port and flak is very scarce it seems. Those ships must not be given a chance to escape!
Here's my today's only attack on Brisbane:
