RE: January-1942
ALLIED PLAYER UPDATE 1/10/1942:
Call it strategic genius or cowardice- but the Allies have fled the scene as much as possible. As much of the Singapore & Manila air forces have fled to Burma, India and Australia as possible. In a few key places, namely Wake Island, the Allies have chosen to make a stand however. Rabaul will fall unfortunately but hopefully PM can hold as well as Noumea. The Japanese appear to be moving cautiously forward, using their pre-planning invasion point bonuses with carrier coverage. Thus the KB seems to be more on escort duty than in a hunter-killer role. That may leave an opening for a counter-move earlier than normal...

RE: January-1942
-Yes, Lee is right. With Wake firmly in allied hands, he holds a knife on my throat, as he ca start an offensive in Central Pacific. I´m not willing to fall in the same trap of our last game, so I´m in the process of reinforcing the defenses of Marcus Is., Iwo Jima and Marianas. I think he cannot attack before he has the 6 carriers, because the counterattack of KB would be devastating, more than in our last game. Still, if he land in Iwo Jima....game over.
-Japan captured the important oilfields at Brunei. They will help to keep our industries running until better fiels are captured

-After two days of inactivity, air attacks on Singapore were resumed with devastating results. Our new base in Brunei received the visit of a few bombers. The Zeroes were unable to shot down even one of them. Naga also was captured and so the enemy had access to supply cut in Phillipines

RE: January-1942
Japanese carrier based aircraft located and attacked a large convoy at Port Moresby, sinking one heavy crusier, one PG and two transports. Many bombers, however, failed to locate the target. We hope to fix this trouble tomorrow.

RE: January-1942
ALLIED PLAYER UPDATE:
Though a dozen ships were lost to the Kates & Nates, Port Moresby has been successfully reinforced as the KB menaces New Guinea & Rabaul. Meanwhile in Singapore Japanese troops pause inexplicably before the final onslaught at Singapore. In Burma stores are closed as teh British flee, but prematurely as it seems the Japanese are moving into Malaya first.
Wake Island is quickly becoming a honeycomb of dugouts, foxholes and trenches as the American troops there prepare for future Japanese attacks. Meanwhile PT Boats raid Marcus Island unsuccessfully. Other raiders find hideaways throughout the DEI, waiting for unsuspecting Japanese transports...

RE: January-1942
-Not a good turn for Japan. Ki-21´s gave a pause to Singapore due to heavy losses. Rabaul was assaulted again, but didn´t fall. To make things worse, 8 planes were lost over Phillipines (2 to AA fire and other 6 op losses)

RE: January-1942
Enemy bombers attacked our first convoy, loading oil at Brunei. One Martin 339 shot down. The last raid on Singapore resulted in significant land losses, and the new Ki-49 proved much less prone to be shot down by AA fire than the old Sallies.

RE: Great things to happen....
-Sources from Japanese War Ministry confirmed a billionaire deal between the government of Japan and the Spanish private group Iberostar. According the Japanese officials, the colonial soldiers are refusing to fight to death like good warriors, creating a few logistical troubles to deal with thousands of new prisioners. "We captured 7000 troops yesterday in the Phillipines and more 50000 are expected to be imprisioned in the next days", said a speaker for the Ministry. "We are hiring Iberostar due to their large experience in building and managing resorts, we are intending to create a net of luxury hotels that will bring billions of dollars to the Co-Prosperity sphere after the war is over, meanwhile, they will be used to give some rest and leisure to our prisioners of war, the bill will be sent to colonial powers after the war is over".The Japanese however, are not intending to implement the "all-inclusive" system, used by the Spanish hotels. "We fear being accused of war crimes, as a few months as hostage of Iberostar can cause irreversible damage to one man´s liver".

RE: Great things to happen....
ALLIED COMMANDER UPDATE, January 1942:
After a brief raid on the Port Moresby's reinforcement fleet, it appears that the Japanese KB has fallen back to Kwalijein to menace the Wake Island & Midway shipping lanes. The KB currently is moving astride the Midway-Pearl Harbor route, but thanks to extensive PBY Catalina patrols from Wake & Midway it should be difficult for him to surprise any ships. PT Boats nevertheless are bravely racing out to be the first $1,000 boat to sink a $1,000,000,000 Akagi!
But whereever the KB goes, it leaves a vacuum for the Allies to fill with reinforcements, transports and planes. Various islands on the map which will remain anonymous (and will certainly remain anonymous after everyone forgets them after the war) are taking on thousands of marines, Seabee bulldozers and K-rations for a defensive stand. British troops reverse course in Burma to consider an early counteroffensive.
In spite of the enemy's magnaminous declarations of Spanish resort accomodations for the soon to be USAFFE prisoners out of Manila, the Allies have declared the Philippines a "free bombing zone for all nations." In accordance with Plan Orange and the miracle of Wake Island defense, infantry divisions are already on their way to rescue Luzon & Manila... well, maybe.
