Then who?

"Many additional man-years of development from a dedicated and experienced team including subject matter experts and experienced programmers has resulted in an improved War in the Pacific experience across the board."

Joe Wilkerson, Project Lead for Admiral’s Edition, commented, “A team of over two dozen programmers, artists and researchers has worked on virtually every aspect of War in the Pacific for over a year now and reaching the point where our work is ready to be announced is very gratifying. This has been a massive undertaking of which we are extremely proud and I am thankful to all who have given and continue to give their time to this project. We look forward to introducing ourselves to the community over the coming weeks and months and sharing with you our vision for the Admiral’s Edition. To the War in the Pacific community, who are familiar with some of our work on the 1.8x series of updates I can only say – you ain’t seen nothin’ yet!”

And someone will still complain that there isn't a certain type represented which flew with a private flying club in Western Australia in 1941 before being taken over by the RAAF and used for liason duties [:D]

So I see people are still complaining about El Cid.

[:D] darn tootin Dixie !!!

I want my silver painted F4F-2b / 49g of which only one was ever manufactured for a little old lady in Toledo in 1939 with black wing tip markings and no bomb capacity but a small cargo carrier for her cat.

Because this one plane will certainly make all the difference and allow the allies to defeat Japan at Pearl Harbour.

Is there anyone here who's independently wealthy (maybe Terminus is actually Bill Gates, Gen'l Hoepner is Sam Walton, or Marky is Donald Trump?) who can give us all enough money so that we can retire from real life and give this game the time that it needs and deserves?

OMG OMG OMG! This exceeds my expectations! We'd been told not to expect WITP2, but this comes awful close. 40 mile hexes!! Waypoints, patrol zones, loiter times, mid-ocean intercepts, ship conversion, engine vs system damage, new CAP engine, service rating for planes, more detailed pilot XP, barrage balloons, blimps, vectors for air attacks for flak, 500 planes, hex-side land movement, 8 new terrain types, LCU "stances," light industry, oil refineries, new OOBs, new editor -- it's like a dream come true. I'm thrilled!

The two immediate questions I have are: (1) are you revisiting the interface; and (2) are you revisiting the AI?

[:)]There will be no AI. Terminus has volunteered to be cloned and to play WITP2 will require a subscription. You will interface with "clone-boy" via the internet. Until the bugs are worked out and the clones are ready Terminus has agreed to fill in for "clone-boy" and will suspend his life ( and all sleep) till "clone-boy" is ready. [:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

This reminds me of "A Tale of Two Cities".

It was the best of times - The far exceeds my expectations, and maybe even my fervent hopes for a new product [&o][&o]

It was the worst of times - Gonna be hard to wait until 2008.  Hell I should just leave work now, since I'm just gonna be thinking about the Admiral Edition all day long anyway [:D]
