37 here. I hope the age statistics here isn't some kind of indication about future death of the wargaming hobby?
Hopefully some new recruits will find this wonderful hobby.

I just turned 60, and I don't even have the game yet.  My first wargame was AH's Tactics II.  I'm looking around to see which games I'm going to play when I retire.

Hey!
That was my first wargame too. I think the game was made before I was even born.
It's an old one.

Before I even knew about formal wargaming (age 11 or so) I lined up pennies nickels dimes and quarters across a 6 x 4 area rug. Pennies were infantry, quarters Arty, dimes and nickels tanks. I cant remember the rules but remember the "front" moved back and forth. The rug had some kind of grid. I never had enough money for a continuous front for a battle of head vs. tails. But worse, when the ice cream truck went by the Arty and tanks would always disappear. Shortly thereafter I got into chess and did not wargame till college.

My first wargaming, that I can remember, was with a friend on the mudflats in the river over the road from his house at low tide - we'd make "forts" of twig-reinforced mud, then throw mudballs at them until they broke - there was, IIRC, quite a premium on getting the design of both the forts and missiles right - wet mud was hopeless as a missile - you had to have just the right mixture of "dry mud" and "wet mud" to have it hold together perperly.  Reinforcing designs for the forts were also extensively thought out - I think we independantly invented daub and wattle [:D]

I'm 38 and I would think most fans of any of the matrix published games would certainly be part of an older group. I also found out some popular games such as Civ4 and GalCiv2 to have much older crowds too. Then when you think about it, it makes sense because thats what we all had grown up playing, TBS games and wargames. Of course you have your sims too such as flight simulator and trainz, those are the same way. Surprised to see a few youngs ones in here, welcome to them and thats proof a game like AT still has some appeal to young players as well. @TheHellPatrol, love the avatar!

My 1st was Tactics II - guess that's why I'm lovin' A.T. with GJK's graphics mod.
The North Africa campaign also looks a little like A.H.'s Afrika Corps.
