At one hundred fifty dollars a tire, that sould guarentee you a good tread life. I stopped buying the bargain basement tires. After 15,000 miles had to get replacement tires.

Since you mention tires, the LS takes a wider type than my previous basic Cav. I'll take that as a plus, since we DO have periodic bad-weather winters.

After my accident, I gotta take that into account. The other driver was at fault, and her insurance made my downpayment. However, I'm gonna be a bit gunshy when another snow happens. That should be understandable.

It's clear now, and I was impressed by the road-handling of this vehicle. It has a low center of gravity, and I am NOT a speedster, except on the open interstate highways.

BTW, here's a promo photo of the 04 LS:

Note one thing: this model doesn't have the nearly-indestructible thick bumper of the basic Cav. That's one of the few downsides I noticed.

The 2 parts of a car I am willing to spend maybe more than I need to...tires and battery. Cheapies are simply not worth the savings.

This is what my son-in-law calls the "Grampa Car" whenever I have it over at his house and he has to show it off to someone.

One of these days I'll get this figured out......probably give it to the kids once the new 620hp Corvette "Blue Devil" makes it's appearance next summer. It's getting old. Already has 4500 miles on it!

California does not have car inspections. But when your car reaches six years old you must have it smog checked every two years. Cost about $80.00 for that inspection.

We used to back in the sixties and maybe into the early seventies. Then it abuptly stopped. Then later on smog rules came. What a croc of doo-doo that racket is.

Well, I got my insurance settlement check today, and gotta find me a decent commuting car. Damn, I didn't realize how much I was attached to my trusty old 98 Cav, but it will soon be scrap metal.

Thankfully, the family has a new Saturn Vue, BUT, that's the wife's, and I gotta have my own way to work.

So, how about one of these:

NOT. [:D]

I think I found a few of those in my aircleaner......
