RE: WAW 5 player
Hi guys,
I need some advice on how to proceed. I just finished playing the turn, but I might have created some problems with something that I did.
Last turn, Kirk (the West player) lost Gibraltar. This turn, the Spanish joined the Axis. I noticed that the options to declare war on both the Balkan Minors, and the Spanish, were both active for me, so I chose them. I was thinking of the Axis Minors, when I chose the DoW option. I'm not sure if the actions will be overridden or if they will result in me going to war with either the Balkans, or the Axis.
I didn't notice whether or not the Soviets could have DoW'ed the Balkan Minors before, so I checked by reloading an earlier turn's save and I see that they can.
How do you guys want to proceed? Should I just replay this turn, or do you guys want to take a chance that all hell breaks loose with the Soviets possibly at war with the Axis, or Balkans?

RE: WAW 5 player
Looking at the player briefing it doesn't look like the designer intended Russia to be able to declare war on anyone - possibly it's an oversight on his part? Historically Russia invaded Bessarabia in defiance of hte Neutrality pact with gErmany, but htere was nothing Germany could do about it, and hte Russians stopped at the Prut river - this invasion is already represented in the territory that the USSR controls, so there is no cause for the USSR to have to declare war on anyone.
(IMO the chances of Spain joining the war should be 0 regardless of Gibralter - they imported almost 100% of their oil from the USA & Germany didn't have any to spare....pretty much hte same for Turkey viz Kuwait too)
So I'm happy for you to play the turn again without delcaring war on anyone.

I'm with smk[:)]
I was thinking that russia could DOW but not until 42.
This may come from EUR 39.
Maybe If you redo turn spain will not flip..but this is only reason I took.
It does not seem to stop British ships getting suppy through it.
When I hit supply for british ships Gibraltar turns green.
Maybe we should ask Tom or a neutral party.

While few men,legislators or otherwise,
have felt downthe years they could command ships of the line or marshall air armies without specialized training, almost
any fool has felt in his heart that he could command a regiment.

I'd say replay the turn.

Hi guys,
Just to be clear, I did this during the Round 18 turn that I just played. The reason that I checked to see if it was possible, was that Kirk (the West) said that Spain just joined the Axis.
From what Giacomo says, maybe he wasn't yet aware of it? Is Spain joining checked and executed during the West's turn, and not the German's?
It sounds like the consensus is to replay the turn, and I don't have a problem with that. I think that unless the Ge:Ru ratio is breached, then there shouldn't be any possibility for the Soviets to initiate hostilities against Germany. I'll replay it and send it on in a bit.
Incidentally, for those who are not yet aware, I am working on a mod for this scenario. I'm almost finished with the first iteration of it, and will soon be looking for playtesters. Anyone interested? Any thread lurkers are welcome, as well...[;)]

Replayed the turn and sent it on to China.
RE: WAW 5 player
I wouldn't mind playing your mod when it is ready.
As for Soviet entry into the war, I only wanted it to be possible if the eastern garrison is not met. Although if the Axis Minors joins the war and the Germans mess up a ratio, that is fair game.

I would be honored to have you look at it, and/or play it with me. But, first, I have a little problem with autofilling of areacodes. Could you look at my thread regarding this in the Mods and Scenarios sub-forum, and help me unpaint the damned map? I'm feeling like such a doofus for doing this same freaking mistake TWICE today. The first time, I simply threw away an hour's worth of editing and reloaded. However, this time around, I don't want to have to go through an redo everything I just spent the last hour on...again...[:@]

Jan. 1941! Wheeee! We made it to next month! Think the cold is getting to the Japs. Althought they did capture Kunming, which has caused some supply problems.
US handouts have resulted in a third Chinese factory in the back country.... more farmer-fighters.... and some special treats for the Japs....

Chunking falls to attacks from all sides - the Nationalists under warlord Chiang are routed and the Chinese southern armies effectively destroyed.
However in the north large numbers of conscripts have been seen at the front - only small numbers have been seen until now, but these formations have 60-90 units each!
And still more factories built with American aid - the Chinese have built enough to make up for the loss of Kunming and Chunking! The transfer of manufacturing capability from the USA to Japan is proceeding according to plan![:D][:D]

Turn 19 to China. Uncle Joe is feeling a little nervous and paranoid these days, given that Soviet Industry in this version is as emasculated as an unlucky matador, he's running out of time, and his friends are running out of space...

With the loss of Chungking and the capture and torture of Chang Kai Shek, Mao in now supreme commander of the Chinese Peoples Republic. More peasants are flocking to the Communist banner.
Hopefully March will still be poor weather or this may be a short lived revolution....

Mao's supporters are gathering with greater speed.... and some new suprises for the evil Japanese. Hopfully this turn of rest will better prepare our troops for the coming summer offensives. Most of our caves have been completed in the hills......

Turn 21 to China. Calm before the storm. My joy at finally being able to upgrade my Rifle/SMG's to level II, is offset by looking over the border to see stacks of RifleIV's amassing, ready to strike...[:(]

Yes...but, then I'll need that one to produce troops when everything west of Omsk is overrun and I'm fighting the mother of all battles at the gates of the Urals...[;)]
