One thing you buttinski's need to think about here. Do you think Erik et al would be making or even trying to make fixes for this just for ME? hahah Not on your life. If it wasn't a real issue Erik would just blow smoke about it like everything else and that would be it. It's a major issue for them to even think about trying to fix it. It ain't just for me buttinski's. ;)

So you think I "blow smoke" about most issues reported here?

Ok, we have a IE6-compatible version working internally. However, due to bugs in the IE6 components there are some visual glitches.

If any of you would like me to send you the IE6 test version of the RBG/RCG, let me know and I will be happy to oblige as long as you don't mind the occasional cosmetic glitch. We'll also include this in the first official update.

I don't see the hub-bub. It isn't like the game forces you to use IE as your main browser, a point Erik has stated time and time again. I suspect that the game, when greating the random campaign, creates an offline "webpage" to use the coding from IE as instructions to the main game. This all works offline, n'est-ce pas? Thus one should approach the requirement in the same vein as one approaches .NET or DirectX.

WOOHOO Now, Thank you very much for your customer service, though I can't say it was always friendly (except for Stridor who explains things instead of attacks the customer). ;)
So you think I "blow smoke" about most issues reported here?

Yeah I do since you tried to whitewash every post about IE 7.0 issues with "it doesn't effect the game...only the whole OTHER HALF OF IT that's all...just the TOOLS not the game so not to worry" lol That's smoke blowing of the best I've ever seen I think. ;)

Now, I applaud Stridor for rushing to find a fix for this. I'm not going to have issues with some graphics glitch I can assure you as long as I can read what I'm doing in the RBG and the RCG. That's all I'm going to play with anyways. Long as I can see the numbers that I want to give each side and maybe those sliders from time to time that's all I care about. ;) Well, that and the AI is exceptional. :)

Now, I'm not too proud of a man not to apologize for my behavior Erik. ;) I was overly rantant, but, really that's just the way I am in real life when I get teed about something I get or didn't get from Walmart's or Sears or my Grocery store. I worked in customer service a longggggg time not to experience just about everything I do and I found that the LOUDEST usually and most always get what they want. My ex sister-n-law was even better at it than I am and because she is female she could get away with a lot more. hahah So, once again I sorreee. ;) Shake hands? Make Up? (you know makeup sex is the best kind....oh wait you're not the right sex lol hahah)

Now to replace my order with Chris at NWS. :)

You worked in customer service? [X(]

In any case, I'm glad this makes you happy. Let me know when your copy arrives and I'll send you the files. Rick was kind enough to help us test them and while there are some rough visual edges we are going to try to smooth away, they work fine functionality wise. You can generate random battles and campaigns to your heart's delight.

Lol yep I worked in customer service I'd say about 25 years. ;) I know what it takes to make a customer happy and believe you me I got a lot worse than you get out of me. ;) Not only were they loud and boisterous, but, they had bad breath and some of them smelt like chit. ;) See the advantages you have by just being online and not in person? hahaha

And thank you again. I hope it wasn't too much trouble for you et al. ;) I just reordered my copy so I don't know when I will get it Chris is usually pretty fast though even with 1st class/media mail shipping.

Grell explains this situation perfectly were a user is comfortable with the applications or hardware they are currently using and resist change. Or they remember limitations or security risks invovled in the initial release of said hardware and applications vowing never to use again. Unlike Ravinhood who rants like its the end of the world and we're minutes away from the rapture.

I'm running Vista with Norton and the only tracking cookie that I get on my machine when using IE7 Norton kills and it comes from the Battlefront web site.

I'm the one that started this messy post and I feel almost the same as Ravinhood about IE7. However, I love changes to software and I do not resist change. I love technology advancements! However, I have used IE7 many times and it has never been anything but trouble for me. You appear to be one of the fortunate ones and that's great for you. However, I have been to sites of people that have nothing but IE7 problems. All IE versions are known to be security threats. As far as security goes IE is the worst browser.

Eric told me that I can have IE7 in the background and the game only uses the components, and I can handle that. That works for me. However, I can see where Ravinhood would not want to download IE7 as it writes over the IE6 components. It looks like that issue will be resolved very soon though and IE6 will work fine. [:)]

As far as Vista working fine for you, you are a minority. There are people that loved ME and that too was junk. I have a cousin and he uses Vista and likes it. Go figure?! [;)]

There are so many thousands of drivers and system differences! I can understand that software I dislike may be wonderful for someone else. What I DON'T understand is when people treat these issues like their mother got slandered. There's no good excuse. [:-]

LarryP I think you were very civil in your original posting of something with the game that effected you and your ability to use the software. I believe you justified and expressed your self in a reasonable manner.[&o]

You didn't throw a fit like another user that we'll not say its name. Reminds me of that crazy individual throwing a fit a the customer service desk in some store. I wonder if they realize that we are all snickering behind their back about watching some crazy have a melt down. Admit it everyone has seen a lunitic melt down at customer service and they become a train wreck as soon as they yell the phrase I'm the customer.

Ok, let's just move on... I think everyone is calm now and we have a IE6-compatible version available for those who'd like to give it a try. No need to keep this going.

It's really again a lame MS trick to force people to use their softwares, to oblige game devs to ask for their browser install !! [:@]
It's like if you asked for a specific microwave oven in order to get some PPV program lol ...

Matrix and Koios, I'd suggest you really try to stay clear of that nonsense and use "normal" dev packages. More and more customers are pissed off by MS habits. Personnally I still have IE7 (because it's required for some distant access Citrix browsing software I use for working at home on my company's servers) but don't use it at all else, would have removed it if I could !

Yeah it's bad enough they are screwing us over with directx 10 and it's not backward compatible, now this. Forced upgrading and buying that's all MS is about.

Plus now I tried the Editors and they crash everywhere, due to obscure IE settings or whatever. Makes me hate IE and MS even more [:@] !

Yeah I don't think they got a fix for IE 6.0 to use the editors. Keep screamin maybe Erik will have them fix that also. ;)

<sigh> Yes, excellent advice for life: "Keep screamin"

The editors are certainly not crashing everywhere. They may be running into issues on some systems because of unusual security settings, broken file associations or third party software we haven't run into before.

Welcome to the joy of developing for PCs, and folks wonder why gaming is moving to console...

Ever thought about the fact that certain leaps in technology are demanding a straight cut? Of course not.
I see all this bitching about IE6 vs. IE7 and how greedy MS is and tries to rip everybody of. Why do you still use their software if everything is so bad?

Did anybody even think of what major flaws IE6 still has, after all these years? And that IE7 is not the leaky IE7 anymore that it was two years ago? God, I still remember the uproar when IE6 was released and how it was "breaking the internet", now everybody complains about IE7 and praises IE6 [8|][:'(]. Oh, and it might be news to some people but even Firefox has serious security leaks. And yes Mozilla needed to patch a lot recently [;)]

Things keep moving forward, cuts will be made and things become obsolete. I suggest getting used to it. Saves a lot of nerves [;)]

Woohoo is Matrixgames moving to consoles. I would be soooooooooooooooooooooo frickin happy. Really Erik/Marc I'm tired of all the upgrades all the damn files and applications and crap one has to have with nearly every game nowadays. Whatever happened to PLUG IN PLAY that was suppose to be with Win98 and XP??? I'm serious though if publishers like you and Sharpnel and HPS went to consoles I'd dump this lousy computer crap in the closet and never look back. So, when yah gonna be doing this? ;)

Also you need to remember the trikle effect. If I'm tried of it and I know 10 people that are tired of it and they each know 10 people that are tired of it, you soon have an angry mob that is tired of it. All I have to do is point to VISTA for my PROOF of the mob and how it reacts to your socalled advanced technology. You can advanced past your bottom line base when you advance too far ahead of the "normal" people that buy your products. Most people like and need time to absorb advancements, they don't want to be using one thing today with a 500 page manual only to HAVE to use something else tomorrow with a 1000 page one.
