Disappointed i didnt get a second pop at his cruisers. They didnt make landfall at Buin so i am hoping i scared them off. As predicted he hit Port Moresby and the skies over the base were full of Nells. About 60 of them scored 4 runway hits but they were still to high to be effective, 25,000 feet, and no planes were hit. The P-40B's transferred yesterday rose to tassle with the Zero escort and had four of their number shot down, still they did their job by unsettling the bombers.
1st AVG once again tore into the Ida's over Wuchow downing another 5 and damaging 4 more. The garrison there was reinforced with an artillery regiment and according to the CR we now have equal AV's but im hiding behind size 4 fortifications [;)] In China, however, the main action is revloving around the Battle of Hankow. the screenie below and notes will explain in more detail.
1) An artillery regiment and Infantry Corps are marching westwards to reinforce a guerilla unit that has been fighting a Jap Brigade on its own for a few days. Its good positions in the hills are allowing it resist a numerically stronger unit but i suspect the Japanese supply level is not too good.
2) Four Infantry Corps (700 AV's). Three are a day out of Sinyang where they will await the arrival of three Cavalry Corps from the Nroth before attacking units to the West and South-East and clearing the Japanese supply lines to Hankow. Due to the lack of armoured units the Cavalry will hopefully give me the mobility to encircle Japanese units and cut SLOC.
3) 1200 AV's will shock attack a Japanese Brigade tomorrow and then start to move South-East and eventually assault Kiukiang, staying on the West side of the river. If i do decide to cross into Hankow, will i automatically shock attack? There is a road crossing the river here so is that a bridge or will i shock attack regardless when crossing a river bridge or not?
Elsewhere in the theatre, SS Cahchalot was pounded by ASW elements in Eniwetok. AN S-boat will take up station and hopefully take a shot at the AP's docked there. In Japanese Home Waters the PC hit by SS Gar yesterday sunk and the Gar is now steaming to Parashima Jimw where intell suggests an AP is heading to loaded with troops. Im assuming that Herbie is reinforcing his northern flank just as im doing in the Aleutians.
AK Kanalon II, trying to sneak westwards was found and sunk in the middle of the Phillipine Sea.
Japanese forces have landed at Tulagi, it seems the reinforcement of New Caledonia didnt come too soon!!
