The 4/42 defending the Kontum airfield with support from an artillery battalion puts up a superb defence and stops cold the D304 LF Battalion and D406 Sapper Battalion, inflicting heavy losses.

[center]Attack #41[/center][center] [/center][left]The first large battles are beginning now with the attack on Quang Tri by 2 battalions from the NVA Regiment 812. The defenders of the 1st ARVN Division are reinforced by the 7th ARVN Armored Cavalry Regiment and the 2-12 Cav from the 1st Cavalry Division. [center]Attack #43[/center][left] [/left][left]The D303 Tay Do battalion, U Minh 10 LF battalion and the D2311 mortar battalion attack the city of Can Tho in the heart of the Mekong Delta, home of the ARVN IV CTZ Headquarters. Lightly defended by rear-echelon troops, a 155mm howitzer battalion and a RF Company, the city quickly fells and the defenders retreat towards the Binh Tuy Air Base.[/left][left](For some reason I ignore, Elmer systematically refuses to advance after combat in this location [&:])[/left][left] [/left][center]Image[/center]

Farther South, the Khanh Hoa Sapper Battalion and C1 LF Company attempt to overrun the Headquarters of the 9th Republic of Korea Division located at Ninh Hoa. Quickly reinforced by two battalions from the 29th regiment and the divisional tank company, the defenders inflict heavy casualties to the VC.

Back in Quang Tri, the D814 NVA Battalion and C59 Local Force Company attack the compound of the 1st ARVN Regiment defended by 1/1. The defenders hold firm and report a nice bodycount.

[center]Attack #51[/center][left] [/left][left]Three VC Main Force battalions (DE, D267 and D269) launch an all-out attack on the Tan Son Nhut International Airport where the US Military Assistance Command is Headquartered. The base is defended by Army and Air Force Police units and the MACV Security Force. The RVNAF JGS who took shelter in the compound is also caught in the attack. The defenders are holding out, but just barely, and the base badly needs reinforcements or else it will be overrunned.[/left][left] [/left][center]Image[/center][left] [/left]

The city is defended by 1/32 and the 681st RF Company and is reinforced by the 42nd Ranger Battalion stationed at the airfield. All nearby combat units are rushed in to reinforce, including Project DELTA, the 5th MIKE Force, a USAF Security Police Squadron and the II Field Force LRP Company.
