Why don't I like the Japanese ships?

Let's start with the Yamato... a vertical tower in the forward superstructure immediately followed by a sloping funnel. This disparity breaks up the lines and diminishes her beauty.

The Fuso/Yamashiro superstructures look like they were built by a two year old with leggo building blocks - just way too "busy" to be considered beautiful.

I suppose I should mention that to me, beauty is best found in clean, simple lines.

The CL has got something about her, but this CA is butt-ugly! (I guess this is why you should never show people pictures of your kids or pets...[:D])

French Destroyers take a lot of of beating in the operational capabilities department as well as looks. I still think the early Counties have it overall, but I'd go with the Frogs for the Destroyer category. Renown was a mightily handsome Battle Cruiser. Does anyone remember the Sig Yava used to use that Dixie did for him? It was a colourised photograph of a camouflaged Renown - absolutely beautiful...

CL Yubari and the BB Ise/Hyuga (Pre-rediculous mini flight deck).

To me their unique looks are what make them beautiful.

I went to the museum in Bremerhaven when I was about 10. I cannot remember this. Is it a recent addition?

Maybe I'm just silly but I've always thought the Tashkent class DD that Russia ordered from the Italians was very nice looking.

I like ships that are low and sleek looking. It's not the size of the funnel that matters, but the sheer of the fo'c'sle. [;)] Mmmm... curvy.

You'd have to go a long way to beat the French and Italian Super Destroyers for looks. Some British and US Destroyers are ok, but these Big Girls from the Med certainly turned heads.
